May 7, 201313 yr Anyone using FS Instant Approach, and if so, would you recommend it? I like the idea of being able to quickly setup approaches-- but can't seem to find any information on how the program handles the configuration of your aircraft when it drops you into the approach setup (especially the more demanding planes like the NGX) . It's on some kind of a super sale at pcaviator.com right now. Thanks!!

I used this freeware before: http://planeman-fs.blogspot.de/2012/05/lord-of-landing-v17.html The freeware is great also, but you can't set approach speed, and does not work with some planes - PMDG MD11 for example. You can try it anyway, its freeware. With Fs Instant Approach you can't set speed with fs9, but with fsx works great. And you can set visibility and wind/gusts Zeljko Budovic

May 7, 201313 yr Guess I'm just 'old fashioned' (or, maybe, just old) - I have a few pre-saved flights that put me where I want to be for an approach (different planes, about to enter the pattern for VFR, set up to intercept the localizer for IFR, etc). I also practice some IFR flights by leaving out "the piece in the middle" - depart, ascend via the SID, then once established enroute I skip that part Plan-G (can do the same in FSX map), then descend via the STAR and make the approach. BUT - for $15, maybe something to consider. Will try the freeware posted above first. May 7, 201313 yr Anyone using FS Instant Approach, and if so, would you recommend it? I use it and I like it. After I bought I am told there is a freeware that pretty much does the same thing. My main gripe I have with FSI Approach is, they add a little feature to it and then try to resell an upgrade. I can understand if you do a major upgrade you have to resell it.. But adding a couple of feature every few months and thren trying to sell an upgrade doesn't sell well with me. So I have not upgraded any since I have their early version. For e.g. The default speed is 100kts. For airliners I'd like to have 160kts. I have to change it every time.. I don't believe there is an ini file I can save my default settings. Who knows they may have added this feature or would add this in their next release and they may try to re sell it to me. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
May 8, 201313 yr I have it, it works great. Lots of fun and lots of options to preset weather conditions, distance out from airport etc. Good value for $$. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
