I'm starting to take a really negative view on Orbx's quality control issues....... there is no denying the beauty of their scenery, but it seems to be causing more and more problems with other installed sceneries and products.

 

FTX EU England hugely screwed up my FSX installation, and even after a full, proper uninstallation (with FTX Central set back to 'default' before hand), my other products were still messed up and a full FSX uninstall / reinstall was the only fix.

 

I'm currently withholding from buying any further Orbx products, until they can dispense with that awful "FTX Central" region switching system.   (bought everything they released, up until EU England).

 

Sorry to hear that Orbx installations are now messing up Skiathos X for some users.

I haven't had any issues so far with SX and I do have all the orbx sceneries.

 

I will do some more testing and double check but so far so good.

I've tried a reinstall etc ftx to default no good still the same Howard. Hopefully a fix coming soon you had no issues Jas I see lucky you Lol. I might venture to the Aerosoft forum for a fix ill post if I find anything. Wayne.

I have Grenadines installed and I have to set ORBX to default. Skiathos X works the same way. ORBX has to find a way to enable all the regions without affecting the entries in the AG file.

 

I hope that this is done soon. FTX Global is only a month away.

Send the AG folder file to "Lars" the developer. See if he can fix it.

I have started a thread about it at orbx forums months ago but it wasn't replied to by any of the Devs so i guess that awful system is here to stay

Shame, I'll meal the AG folder tomorrow shouldn't have to do that though its a pain. Can't the just post the fix in detail.

I asked the dev of SX to put a manual fix, and he has refused.

I'm not trying to hide anything, it's just that you should really know what you're doing when editing the default.xml. And for every customer the issue seems to be different. Some already had a corrupted default.xml from other add-on installation, some didn't set FTX Central to default FSX or didn't have administrative rights prior installation. That's why a manual editing of the files by me makes most sense imo.

spilok, I've never seen something like that before and non of our beta testers were able to reproduce the problem. So what I'm guessing that there's been some change made to the effect or the way it's attached. Did you ever install an add-on or replacement for the default wake effects?

Do you use the utility called "FlusiFix"?

If you still want to enjoy the scenery without those weird effects, I'd suggest you turn of animated boats via the scenery manager (you can find it here "FSX/Aerosoft/29Palms - Skiathos X/") - saves you some FPS but unfortunately no animated boats anymore. If you can't live with that we should investigate this problem in detail

UPDATE:  Installed the scenery and it looked great while I was on the runway.  Took off and looked around and the "wave wakes" of 2 of the boats were shooting up in the air on to space.  There are 2 of them and they are right behind Runway 02.  They were not behind the boats on the water.

I installed the Greek Coastlines at the same time as this scenery, and I checked it in the set up screen (last box).

What in the world is causing this?

Also, how do I bring up the set up screen again?  There's no icon for it, and I can't find it in my programs.

@@spilok - some guys over at Misty Moorings were having a similar (if not the same) problem with the wakes - it may have something to do with the wake effect file FX_Wake_Coastguard.fx file? Worth having a look at this thread to see if it helps you at all.

thanks to our friends at ORBX, we can now provide full compatibility of Mykonos X and Skiathos X with ORBX FTX Europe (FTX England and FTX Wales).

 

Instructions:
