Hey guys i just purchase this island outstanding work . What flight plan do you guys recommend that is not 3 hours long? Maybe from an airport near by a good payware airport will be good.

I know its not DX10 compatible...but what would I see or not see in DX10 during Day time? During dawn and Dusk and during night?

 

I cannot go to dx9 I get OOM at the drop of a hat... for me DX10 is it.

 

So I have only DX10...   but I like this scenery and I want it even if it gives me some grief but would like to know the issues I would face.

I love flying around the Greek islands and fly from other Aerosoft airports such as Corfu, KOS, Santorini, Heraklion and Fly Tampa's Athens.

Not DX10 compatible? Good to know, I almost bought it. Like Manny, I'm using DX10 because no more OOM for me in that mode.

As Rockliffe said, all of the other Aerosoft Greek Island sceneries are perfect (but some are a big hop; the Aegean Sea is quite large)..... there are also some other good Greek Island sceneries (eg. Rhodes) that are non-Aerosoft, over at Simmarket. 

 

FlyTampa Athens is divine, so always good flying form there, to any of the Greek Islands.

 

Also FlyTampa Vienna > Skiathos would be about 1hr 30 to 1hr 45 I believe.

Just wondering; is this better than UTX?

Mynokos covers a bigger area (140Km²) and looks stunning but Skiathos, while equally stunning, covers a bit less area (100Km²) but the approach looks more interesting. Mykonos doesn't have ILS, does Skiathos?

No ILS, just the ol' NDB approach.  ^_^

This is a fly-tampa quality level sceney. I'm quite amazed.. even the vehicles look superb!

 

Those vehicles are the best I've seen ANYWHERE in FSX!

Not exactly fully realistic, but it's a very simple task to add an ILS beam using ADE

Just wanted to add if you are flying around the Greek islands the freeware Greek Islands Detailed Coastlines scenery is a must!

 

Would this installation conflict with any of these payware Greek island airports?

I'm using it and Skiathos even has a tick box to say if you're using it or not. 

 

I would just say put it lower in priority than the payware islands.

You've got to get 'em both! ...... flights between the two are just divine! .... (Q400, Olympic Air :wink:)....

 

No ILS on any of these smaller Greek Islands; they have published NDB approaches, but it seems in the real world, weather-permitting, visual approaches are cleared and used.

Not at all... just ensure the Payware sceneries are above in the Scenery Library. I'm using UTX, and it manages the local (default) islands in terms of coastlines, but doesn't screw up these payware ones.

 

I've got to say, these Greek Islands are in sim heaven! ......... I'm not sure if I'll ever escape back up to Norway!

 

If you look at the Olympic Air website, there are also some excellent real-world charter flight routes that start in May, to the Greek Islands like Skiathos and Mykonos; from Bergen, Stavanger, Amsterdam, Manchester, Stockholm, Helsinki, Vienna .... all places with top notch payware sceneries available. :smile:
