Anyone knows how to reinstall simconnect without reinstalling entire fsx? I have Accelleration and its SDK.

I have been having problems with my FSX recently. It all stareted when I updated the new FSUIPC. I had a difficult time starting fsx. But now I went back to my old FSUIPC. (Thanks to Paul), so I got around that FSUIPC issue..but I am having my FSX freeze up. It now does not like my GFDev.dll (Go flight).. I installed the latest version and it still doesn't like the GFDev.dll.  My realityxp G530W is not working anymore.. When I view the G530W I don't see a blue screen at startup, I see through it like the entire screen has vanished. But I am able to run the Garmin simulator on its own.

I am suspecting my problem is my sim connect is hossed.

I had taken an entire image of my c Drive (SSD) and my F (FSX) folder using Acronis True Image 2012 last month. But I am unable to recover into my SSD. Not sure whats with that. I have recovered HD to HD last year.. This is my first time trying to recover back into the SSD and it doesn't seem to work.

Simconnect is integrated in the FSX installer. There is the SDK for simconnect but that kinda different, more for development or external connectivity. Sounds more like your DLL.XML is wacked than anything else?

It could be worth checking your internet security since simconnect runs on the network and could be scuppered that way. A similar problem was cured recently for a client of mine, whereby multiple .dlls would not load together, the security package was removed completely (zonealarm) and all the addons started working again.

Do you have the registered version of FSUIPC? If so, you might try posting on the FSUIPC forum for answers. But I agree with another poster here, it sounds like your dll.xml or exe.xml file is screwed up, sometimes installing an addon that writes to these files can screw up the formatting, and then that entire part of SinConnect doesn't work, and neither do any of the addons that use that script.

Also, Flight 1 have an addon (or used to) that is either free or very low cost that can help you if you don't have knowledge of the files I mentioned above. And just if you wanted to take a look at these 2 files, they are in the same location as FSX.CFG, which I'm sure you know about if you have ever tweaked FSX. But I would back them up before changing them, as I mentioned above, it takes just one formatting flaw and every addon that uses those files is hosed until yoiu restore the formatting.

SimConnect was the "next best thing" back almost a decade ago when FSX was in development, but it is sometimes unreliable.....

Could try coping and pasting your DLL.xml here to look at.

Using the 3 SDKs will allow you to reinstall Simconnect.

Hi Manny,

Just looking briefly at your uploaded files (you sure have a lot of add-ons installed there :) ), everything looks OK-  I am no expert, but just know that the formatting, even the indentation (I was once told) is critical to making the file work.

Also-  just a hint-  some of us that have Windows 8 have had trouble when trying to instal the Level D B763, and I found a post here recently from someone else that has this issue-  seems that Level D sometimes doesn't "play well" with other add-ons.  And that pretty much rounds out my knowledge of SimConnect, other than there is a dedicated forum I believe here at AVSIM on that topic.  I have often found Pete Dawson and others at his FSUIPC forums very knowledgable and helpful, even when the issue isn't even involving FSUIPC, as communicating outside of FSX is their specialty, of course....  so once again (and you mentioned you have the registered version) I might try there too.

Are you still flying, Manny-?

Thanks, Bruce.

I have not flown in more than a year Bruce. $$$ and my medical is expired. :)

Yeah..I have posted at Pete's forum as  well. Pete is out for a few days I believe.

I posted a reply to you a few days ago Manny about disabling Level D in the DLL.xml as a test. Some reason, RAASPro and LVLD dll caused a issue for me, but just to rule it out, try it.

Before you go off and mess with a SimConnect reinstall (it's possible, but sometimes people get some REALLY weird problems afterwards), I'd recommend that you uninstall FSUIPC, reboot, manually clean the registry of all FSUIPC entries, reboot and reinstall FSUIPC.

If the problem was FSUIPC related, then you should be good to go.

Hope this helps you. If it doesn't, I'd bet you're looking at a complete reinstall of FSX. If you have to, I strongly recommend you install Deluxe unless you can't live without one of the Acceleration aircraft. You can read about Acceleration/SImconnect and other problems here in the forums). You'll see in those posts that Acceleration wasn't the latest and greatest version of FSX, since it's covered in other posts, no need to go into that here.

Best of luck!

If reinstaling FSUIPC doesn't help, i suggest you replacing acceleration with FSX SP2 version, i have done this without loosing addons. It's quicker than reinstalling everything, and there are some reasons to replace acceleration pack, it can give you troubles - from buggy simconnect, autogen and graphics, to poor performance.

This is the corect way:

- disable ORBX using "FTX central"

- disable UTX and GEX

- start REX and inject fsx default textures

- insert fsx Disc1 and uninstall Acceleration Pack only, using install menu

- now, again in fsx Disk1 menu - pres "repair" and folow the instructions(insert Disc2 if needed) This will give you clean fsx installation, no service packs, no acceleration

- run FSX once and load the free flight

- close fsx

- install SDK from Disk 1

- restart PC

- install FSX SP1, load default flight, close FSX and restart PC

- install FSX SP2, load default flight, close FSX and restart PC

- install SDK SP1a, and after that SDK SP2(detailed instructions here http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=SDK_Installation_(FSX)#FSX_Deluxe_SP2_users )

- Now, if you are UTX user, you must install it again, and apply all service packs, but now for SP2 version. Don't forget to configure UTX again, and apply to fsx

- apply again GEX textures if you use it(and backup again your default fsx textures, becouse they are different now)

- Apply again REX textures(make a new backup of default FSX textures)

- delete your FSX.CFG, start fsx and set your options in all FSX menus

- apply all desired tweaks to FSX.CFG

You are good to go! All addons will be there, no need to re-install anything, just to confirm again "thrusted" dll's

Post here or PM me if you have problems with this

Check simconnect.xml in the fsx.cfg folder.  Also simconnect.ini in your documents\Flight Simulator X Files\  (if you have it -- not needed).
