July 12, 201312 yr Hi Roland - you said.....Fixed Repetitive Display of the "User aircraft detected as AI object (SimConnect bug) -- -- AISIDSTAR will NOT process user aircraft (status OK)" message. Now it will only display 3 times...."It is indeed "fixed"....for me, anyway.....the message prints to the screen 3 times then stops. Also....No slewing! Excellent!Thank you!All best,Ray L ('Bird)
July 13, 201312 yr Will load up at LAS and give this a go. Thanks for the changes. Hopefully my explanation of how AI Separation works assisted you in better the program and allowing a smoother traffic flow and a more likely string of pearls I think we all want to have.
July 13, 201312 yr I have run into an issue. The program is sucking about 40-45% of my CPU. FSX is taking up the other 50%. When running this H version my computer has taken a significant performance hit. Can this be confirmed with anyone else?

All best, Ray L ('Bird) Good to hear. Actually, since I've grown confident in the program's ability to detect and NOT slew the user's aircraft, I've decided add minimum separation between the user's aircraft and AI. The the user's aircraft and an AI aircraft get too close, the program will speed up or slow down the AI aircraft as necessary to regain minimum separation. I'll have a new version shortly with this feature. I have run into an issue. The program is sucking about 40-45% of my CPU. FSX is taking up the other 50%. When running this H version my computer has taken a significant performance hit. Can this be confirmed with anyone else? Thanks! You are absolutely correct. I forgot to remove a busy-wait I was using for debug purposes. I'll have a new version shortly with this bug removed. The corrected version should typically show about 0% CPU usage in the task manager (as normal). The new version should also have more improvements to AI speed control, although I'm still alpha testing it. -Roland
July 15, 201312 yr Rev 1.2I (beta) can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/0eos6q6gyrajfcb/AISIDSTAR12I.zip NEW: Minimum distance between the user's aircraft and AI (default is OFF). If the user and a monitored AI aircraft are headed in the same general direction within 4 nm and plus or minus 3000 ft. (e.g, user and AI near the same position on a STAR or SID), the AI will speed up (if ahead) to regain minimum separation. Similarly, AI behind you that are too close will slow down. The minimum separation can be specified by the user in the .ini file. IMPROVED: Speed control. I switched to a different Simconnect method, which is somewhat better at mainting constant AI speeds. IMPROVED: Holds (if enabled) tweaked for quicker releases. During heavy AI traffic, releases from holds should average about once a minute, which is a good pace. This is not the same as final separation on approach because the AI are getting released at different locations associated with different STARs. FIXED: Removed debug code that caused higher than normal CPU usage. CPU usage should now average about 0% with occasional spikes to 1-2%. Regardless, this is a SimConnect program, I highly recommend taking this program off your FSX PC and running it on a separate, networked PC via a SimConnect link. FIXED: AI traffic flying between monitored airports crashed (AI traffic inbound from non-monitored airports landed OK). If inbound traffic seemed light at a major hub, this was probably the reason. For example, the US Metro sample monitors KDFW, KJFK, KLAX and KORD. Thus, all AI traffic inbound to KLAX from KDFW, KJFK, and KORD would crash. A significant amount of AI traffic was thus affected. FIXED: AI traffic not traveling to or from monitored airports was getting vectored. This bug must have crept into one of the revisions, sorry! FIXED: The visual AI bank angle in some cases opposite the actual direction of turn. Sorry, this is another feature that previously worked correctly. I re-worked some code and introduced a sign error. FIXED: Under certain conditions, AI were not holding at commanded altitude, but instead maintaining their present altitude. -Roland
July 15, 201312 yr Hi, is it possible to create sid and star for french airports ? Thanks in advance Fred Frédéric Giraud
July 15, 201312 yr Hi, is it possible to create sid and star for french airports ? Thanks in advance Fred Sure, take a look at the linked message (#113) and just replace US with France in the instructions: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/408490-ai-aircraft-sid-and-star-controller/page-5#entry2704441 Regards, -Roland
July 17, 201312 yr Just trying out your program and one "feature" is really problematic, if the program is running pressing the ESC key in any OTHER open program will cause AISIDSTAR to quit. You should limit the quitting to only happen when the AISIDSTAR window is selected.
July 18, 201312 yr Hey Roland, I have uninstalled FSX due to sim issues. When I get around to putting it back in I plan on using your program again. I imagine that since you use the simconnect.dll that AISIDSTAR is un useable for FS2004, correct?

You should limit the quitting to only happen when the AISIDSTAR window is selected. Good point, fixed in the next version, which is coming shortly. Hey Roland, I have uninstalled FSX due to sim issues. When I get around to putting it back in I plan on using your program again. Yes, no go with FS2004. -Roland
July 24, 201312 yr Are you considering implementing the ability to build a database from stock FSX data and/or AFX files? 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
July 24, 201312 yr Are you considering implementing the ability to build a database from stock FSX data and/or AFX files? My thinking was that a person interested in this utility would probably already have bought several PMDG aircraft as well as subscribed to Navigraph, so that they could avail themselves their extensive SID/STAR databases. I'll look into it though, thanks!
July 24, 201312 yr My thinking was that a person interested in this utility would probably already have bought several PMDG aircraft as well as subscribed to Navigraph, so that they could avail themselves their extensive SID/STAR databases. Well, you've missed entire market segment, i.e. pilots of older aircraft without FMCs, "no payware" or virtual plane spotters. I think running a BGL decompiler on the AP* (or AFX) files and then just converting the appropriate lines into the format suitable for your tool is enough. It might be best to first get the data from FSX' database before amending/replacing it with add-on data from AFX files. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
