June 20, 201312 yr Can't say that I've ever inadvertantly deleted anything that would have been protected by "hidden files & folders", I have intentionally deleted a few though. Inexperienced user users - the majority - can delete anything inadvertently. Have you not seen the posts in these and similar forums rom people who've deleted key FSX files? Do you have "show hidden files and folders" enabled BTW? I do but I'm an experienced user and know what I'm doing and consciously accept the risk. Gerry Howard
June 20, 201312 yr Commercial Member "Key FSX files" are not generally hidden. Everybody thinks they are an "experienced user".
June 20, 201312 yr The first thing I did was the show files and folder thing. I'm lost in how to do it. Havnt heard back from you about your issues have sorted it out yet. June 20, 201312 yr Author I use my ( J- DRIVE ) for everything that is FSX., I still haven't found it. I can easily go to my FSX, would it be right there?
June 20, 201312 yr I use my ( J- DRIVE ) for everything that is FSX., I still haven't found it. I can easily go to my FSX, would it be right there? To be more specific, it is NOT on your J-drive, but your C-drive Bert
June 20, 201312 yr I use my ( J- DRIVE ) for everything that is FSX., I still haven't found it. I can easily go to my FSX, would it be right there? Are you serious? Just search your pc then with Windows Search.... Come on, how can you not find a file on your pc for days, with all the advice above? You go to your Windowsdrive and go to the folders as said above. Let me quote myself "It should be your drive at where your Windows is located." If it is C then -> C:\Users\Username\appdata\roaming\Microsoft\FSX Did you even try that? OR paste this in you START menu as Jim Robinson told you: notepad %appdata%\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.CFG you would have had it already. I don't mind helping people, but this is post #23 in a thread about finding a file on your PC. Mark
June 21, 201312 yr Mark, You can bow out of this thread at any time you wish if things are too frustrating for you.

June 21, 201312 yr Yea i'm sorry (Jet and others), i came down on him/you to harsh. It's just that every possible answer has been given already and he doesn't say what he tried and what didn't work. The whole path has been given, the directlink to the file and the search option. The only help left was to go to his home! But again, sorry my (over)reaction. I didn't mean it as bad as i wrote it (now that i re-read it..) the question if he had tried any of the advice above made me press the quote button. Mark
June 21, 201312 yr I agree with the above post he hasn't even still said if he has tried any of the above suggestions we gave earlier, but still asking the same question again he should least come back again and say what he has tried. Even still doing the help and support option on the bottom of the task bar would be of help as well, or even google the problem would come up with some answer or help. Again as explained its on your pc somewhere other wise fsx would not work at all, you either got the folders still hidden or for some unforseen reason which I cant see its happening is you got your uac turned on and this is preventing seeing the fsx.cfg but I doubt it I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
June 21, 201312 yr still haven't found it. I can easily go to my FSX, would it be right there? Ok let me get this straight you got 2 drives and your j drive being a external drive has all of your fsx addons on it. Than your fsx.cfg will be on your windows drive on your other drive. Can you at least confirm this you got 2 drives or one drive(your fsx.cfg does not reside in your fsx folder) I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
June 22, 201312 yr Author I did both procedures that Mork had suggested and in both cases nothing came up in the two searches. Yes , this post has lasted too many days , but I haven't been on the computer all this time. There have been some important things that have come up that needed to be addressed. I will be the first to admit that I'm not very computer literate. That said, I will find it sooner or later.

Well that is not a problem, I never called you dumb or anything, but you have to tell us in detail what is not working. Do you know what drive your Windows is installed on? Most of the time it is the C:\ drive, but it doesn't have to be. Then you have to tell us if you can find the folder Users on that drive, so C:\Users --- This is the start of the folder-structure where the file is, so you would be in the right place to start, please tell us what folder you can't find. I really don't understand that you cannot find it, because every angle has been covered with all the help in this thread. So you really need to give more information than 'I still can't find it' or ' it is not working'. I still suspect it is the 'hidden folders' thing, so you might want to check that post again. You can also try Google or some searching for Youtube tutorials about editing it, because the fsx.CFG is the most talked about file in FSX-world, so if you really try to find a solution and are willing to put some time in it, then you will succeed. Nothing much we can do, it is up to you. Remember, you just bought a almost fully simulated 737, so you better get used to using internet searches for all your questions that come up B) Mark
