FTX GLOBAL Base Pack - Preview Screenshots

Just out of curiousity : could you show some screenshots from the Netherlands.

The ground appearance is different from other countries.

I am also curious. I've only seen shots from Amsterdam. I've seen shots from GEX Netherlands but they look like France or England. I do hope FTXG gives me large wide farmingfields where they should be.

Just checked out the world tour screenshots. I still find it perplexing that the great majority of screenshots are of urban areas. Not to mention that the "world tour" consisted of almost exclusively the Middle East and Africa, with one shot of Toronto thrown in the mix.

Don't get me wrong - I'm excited about what I've seen so far and think it is an improvement over the default and GEX textures. I'm especially looking forward to the openLC scenery as I've been very disappointed with all the payware pure landclass products(not UTX).

I'd just like to see, for example, more screenshots of African savannah, deserts, forests, and jungles, Southeastern U.S. fields, forests, and swamps, Southwestern U.S. desert, fields, and forests, the U.S. Great Plains, Central and South American deserts, fields, forests, and pampa, Canadian fields and forests, and various types of grasslands. I know that this may seem a bit "U.S.-heavy", but in reality there are relatively few screenshots of non-urban areas of North America. If I'm not happy with the North American textures, then I probably won't be a buyer.

Perhaps ORBX just isn't ready to show all this just yet. Hopefully lots of customer screenshots showing the aforementioned areas will be forthcoming after this gets released.

An excellent reason why I don't expect to be an early adopter of FTX Global.

I'm still waiting for some shots of the American southwest but there are plenty of shots of terrain other then urban environments.

Go to their forums and go to the preview screenshots forum.

There's already sets of Japan, the Phillipines, and Indonesia up. It's one of the areas they've chronicled the most.

This region, that region, everywhere a different region.

As soon as this puppy is available on DVD it is ordered, and I will gladly sacrifice 9GB of HDD space for it!

And as far as competition goes, I believe Orbx is fully aware of the excellent work that is being done by earthsimulations.org.uk. Their recent Isle of Mann release is stunning!

I'm afraid we have to wait for ORBX Netherlands to show those ;-)

in this particular case, ORBX is the competition.  GEX(and GE pro)  has had a lock on terrain texture sets since well back in the fs9 days.  yes, FScene was always an option,  but I don't believe they ever had nearly the popularity of GEX.  I don't regret any of my GEX purchases at all, but this looks much better,  if Nick wants to continue to have a market, I think he will need to raise his game, which may be hard since there's only a few members of his team.  Nick has always resisted making the sort of changes as ORBX has in regards to many things, such as the asian textures/landclass problem.  I hope he does answer the call, maybe he can bring a few new wrinkles to the table too.
