laptops for a good fsx performance

Featured Replies

if i use the 737 gnx into an aerosoft airport, can i get at least 10-15 fps. because in my current computer i only get 5. so 10 fps would be enough for me. is i5 better than i7 for gaming?? with an nvidia gtx 650 ti. just tell me if this specs are enough for getting 10 fps with the 737 ngx into an aerosoft airport. thanks

I cant really tell u what FPS u are going to get.  I cant imagine running fsx at 10 frames.  The processor u want is the i5 2500k.  Not sure how that figures it in to your budget though.

thanks so much man. im going to buy a desktop pc, i5-4430, 3Ghz and nvidia GeForce gtx 650 ti. thanks for the help.

So many people want a Lamborghini for the price of a Honda.  You gotta pay to play folks.  Save your money and buy a decent rig when you can afford it.  You will be happier in the long run.

Asus G74SX is worth a look.

How would his $450 turn into $1400+?

There are no grey areas here. Forget the NGX if you can only afford to spend $450 on a system now. For the second time enjoy FS2004 and save for a decent FSX build. If you waste the $450 you have on crap it will only take you longer to get where you want to be. Patients is the key here. Save for this:

1. i7 4770k

2. Asus Sabertooth Z87

3. GTX 780

4. 8 gb of ram 2x4gb 2400mhz 9-11-11

5. A Haswell certified 750+watt PSU

6. A Samsung Pro 840 128 gb SSD for you windows 7 pro 64 OS

7. A Samsung Pro 840 256gb SSD for your FSX Install

8. a 6gb/s 1TB+ Hdd (with big platers) for your data files

9. A good ATX case.

10. The best CPU cooling solution you can afford. Ideally water

And that's just the start. You will need flight controllers. Joystick, throttle quadrant etc., Rudder peddles etc. You will need trackIR. And you will end up spending at least Hundreds, if not thousand of $ on addons..

I am a glider pilots and I want an ASW 27. That's going to cost me $75,000 and I am saving for it. In the Meantime I fly a $20,000 Jantar standard that belongs to my club and I love every minute of it!

Enjoy what you have and save for what you want.

You will never get what you are looking for on the cheap.

life doesn't work that way.

Period

You can easily get a really good fsx setup for under 1000 dollars, here is an example:

CPU:  Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($199.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard:  Asus Z87-K ATX  LGA1150 Motherboard  ($122.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card:  EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card  ($249.99 @ Amazon)
Case:  Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case  ($49.99 @ Microcenter)
Optical Drive:  Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer  ($16.99 @ Newegg)
Operating System:  Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($89.98 @ Outlet PC)
Monitor:  Asus VE247H 23.6" Monitor  ($152.98 @ Outlet PC)
Total: $1079.86

1. i7 4770k

Not needed, the i5 4670k, runs the same in games for less

2. Asus Sabertooth Z87

An overpriced motherboard for what it offers, look at some of the cheaper offerings: in the 130 dollar range.

3. GTX 780

For FSX, a 760 is more than enough, and costs 1/3 of the 780.

4. 8 gb of ram 2x4gb 2400mhz 9-11-11

1600 RAM will be fine for light overclocking, and no noticeable performance gain from the faster RAM.

5. A Haswell certified 750+watt PSU

600 Watt corsair CX series is more than enough

6. A Samsung Pro 840 128 gb SSD for you windows 7 pro 64 OS

DO NOT GET THE PRO WINDOWS 7. It is only worth it when using more than 32gb of RAM. Also that can be a spinny drive not an SSD, not much of a gain with the SSD.

7. A Samsung Pro 840 256gb SSD for your FSX Install

Yet again does not have to be SSD. I have tried fsx on an SSD, and not on an SSD, not much of a difference.

8. a 6gb/s 1TB+ Hdd (with big platers) for your data files

Two drives is more than enough

9. A good ATX case.

Fairly easy when you have great options like the corsair 200r.

10. The best CPU cooling solution you can afford. Ideally water

Don't forget the Cooler Master Hyper evo. The evo is great, and not everyone wants to be running 5Ghz. The evo is 30 dollars, and can get Ivy up to 4.5.

As you can see, when the fat is cut, it is fairly easy to get a good FSX computer.

How much to ship all that to Argentina?

How much to ship all that to Argentina?

Or how much in excess baggage fees, if bought during a trip to the U.S.

LOL

The laptop that I have now is a Samsung NP700g7c-t01us.  It runs FSX wonderfully once i got Windows 7 in lieu of Windows 8.  But I had to save for it, and the laptops that I had beforehand had a hard time running fs9 decently...much less fsx.

As the famous quote goes:  "Patience, my young Padawan."

Good luck with that let know how long it takes before you become dissatisfied with the performance.

Have a similar Ivy build. It works great. 30fps on the ground with the NGX. I even wish that I had some of the components on that list, for my build. The 760 would be great, along with the better case.
