October 27, 200421 yr Wow-got it today. I waited an awful long time-but it was worth it.The ability to configure (I needed to do the Baron arrangment), very sturdy-and even little detents for feathering.Things came apparent I had never know about fs tonight. I shutoff and disabled an engine-then watched the blade feather as I hit the feather detent in the prop controller-never new I could do this when using a conventional setup.A huge addition to reality. I had a little trouble getting them setup and can't get the ch manager to install-but xp seems to work with them fine. A registered version of fuispc helps the joystick respond like butter.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/95668.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 27, 200421 yr Hi, Geof. That looks good. Do you have a choice of where you put the blue / black handles? Normally the black /Throttle is on the left and the blue / Prop is in the middle. Not that it makes a lot of difference. I.ve gone through over 100 setups in my time, and ended up with the MS Prec. Pro, and a set of CH pedals. TV
October 27, 200421 yr I ditched my CH pro yoke a long time ago, in favor of a sturdy joystick and rudder pedals. The cheap plastic really takes you out of the immersion. The throttle quadrant looks like something a kid would pick up at Toys R Us. ricardo

Many aircraft of my acquaintance feature parts made of plastic at least as `cheap` as the CH yoke!:) :)For absolute realism have you checked that your rudder pedals work in precisely the same plane as the aircraft you are simulating? Top hinge, side hings, bar mounted, push/pull, all these things make your rudder pedals Toys R Us unless they are the right ones!Allcott
October 27, 200421 yr Well I'm jealous and I want one! :9 ...an' i'm gonna get one! :-hahthankyou for the heads up!:)regardsEdhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/94266.jpg My FS Videos
October 27, 200421 yr Yes you can pull off the knobs and put them in any order-they pull off easily. This was Important for me as the Baron is in a non standard config-I noticed a lot of the higher priced you have to order in a particular order. Each control has a little detent on the bottom for feathering-but it is very subtle-so if you are looking for it, it is there, and if you aren't you can ignore it. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 27, 200421 yr Not really that bad-but the sturdy yoke and rudder pedals cost a heck of a lot more-as do most throttle quads.I'd rather put that money into real flying.Fact is no controls except the high end costing many thousands of dollars even start to match a real plane-but you can practice procedures with the ch very well at a fraction of the cost. With my plane costing to run in one hour what this yoke cost in total I think it is pretty remarkable-and being able to control a multi sim plane correctly now adds considerably to realism.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 27, 200421 yr Geofa,I've got a question for you. A little preamble first though if you don't mind...I have a Suncom throttle quadrant and have been wanting for some time to have independant engine control for twins. I fly the Aero Commanders the most. Right now I'm using my standard game port with a CH FlightSim yoke and CH pro pedals both non-usb.I'm interested in getting usb versions of all three components because I would like to have, as previously mentioned, split throttle capability as well as toe brakes on the pedals. My question to you then...is it possible to have all these axes with the usb setup? Do you have toe brakes as well? Thanks, Adam

I also just got the Quadrant (waited since February!) to add to the CH Yoke and Pedals. WOW, what a difference it makes flying multi engine. Geofa, you might have an older version of the CH Control manager loaded and need to uninstall that first. I got the Control manager 3.5 loaded just fine on Windows XP... you have to set the detents to 240 to use FSUIPC's calibration feature but it works sooooo smoooth :)Also works well with Fly!II so I'm off to take ROTW's new Seneca out for some engine out practice.Zane Dr Zane Gard Sr Staff Reviewer AVSIM Private Pilot ASEL since 1986 IFR 2010 AOPA 00915027 American Mensa 100314888
October 27, 200421 yr The configuration of throttles in the middle was actually the original standard but in early twin engine airliners/cargo/bombers.The reason was so both pilot and copilot had easy access to the throttles. Later GA aviation changed to the throttles/props/mixture arrangement considered standard today. Actually the way the pre 1984 Baron had this was rather nice because the related engine gauges were directly above their respective controls. Makes for some interesting moments during transition training between a Seneca or Seminole (commonly used for training) and an older Baron :)Zane Dr Zane Gard Sr Staff Reviewer AVSIM Private Pilot ASEL since 1986 IFR 2010 AOPA 00915027 American Mensa 100314888
October 27, 200421 yr That looks really cool! Great for flying twins. Anyway, how does it work for single engine planes? Do you just use one of the levers of each color then? The problem is I don't think I can sneak that one past my wife. Downloaded addons are simple, but this is going to take some planning. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
October 27, 200421 yr Author Detent clarification please:There is only one detent control per stick, am I correct? Is the detent far enough above the end of down travel limit so using FSUIPC there is some travel below the calibrated idle position? I am thinking about linear reverse thrust below the idle detent.Neat discovery about prop feather, I assume on the prop axis. (When taxiing with the Baron, can you go slow enough with both engines running or do you have to shut one down and feather.)For a twin, are you using the third pair for condition (flight idle/ground beta)? For jet flyers, anyone using one of the axis for linear spoilers?(I forgot you sold the Bonanza for the Baron, right? Interesting quote on the hourly running cost of the Baron. Are you including maintenance amortization in those bucks? How about sharing the wealth!)
