>There is only one detent control per stick, am I correct?>Is the detent far enough above the end of down travel limit so using FSUIPC there is some travel below the calibrated idle position? I am thinking about linear reverse thrust below the idle detent.Yes only one detent per lever and it is as you pull the lever towards yourself near the end of travel. Yes with FSUIPC this allows you to have the detent position as engine idle and as you pull it back further you can go into reverse/feather/fuel cutoff. The comment on setting the detent value to 240 has to deal with using the CH control manager, you have to manually change the detent setting to 240 from 255, otherwise FSUIPC will not allow proper calibration.>Neat discovery about prop feather, I assume on the prop axis. (When taxiing with the Baron, can you go slow enough with both engines running or do you have to shut one down and feather.)You would taxi basically any piston twin on both engines and leave the prop setting at high rpm, you can only feather a piston engine while the engine is running (needs oil pressure) and then only when flying with an engine out (either practice or real emergency). A feathered piston engine on the ground would be quite difficult to start because of the added drag of the props in feathered position, this is not true of a turboprop... you do feather these on shutdown to prevent windmilling of the prop in winds (could destroy the engine cause is would be turning without oil pressure).>For a twin, are you using the third pair for condition (flight idle/ground beta)? For piston twin fuel mixture, for turboprops condition levers. Ground beta would be handled by the power levers, this is usually found by pulling the levers back behind a gate and as you continue pulling back you get reverse thrust.>For jet flyers, anyone using one of the axis for linear spoilers?I set one of the now unused levers on my CH Yoke to operate spoilers. The configuration of the Quadrant is basically limitless, think of a use (hopefully realistic) and program it. When flying the Constellation I set four levers for throttle, one blue for props and one red for mixture... the sound is even more incredible with four big radials going in and out of phase.Hope this helps answer your inquiries,Zane

Could you tell me precisely how you use one of the unused levers on the CH yoke to operate the spoilers? I use CH Manager software but could not figure out how to do it.Greg

Greg Clark

Sure. You don't use the CH Manager software to do this though. Use the assignments function within FS2004.At startup go to "Settings," at the top right you will see "Controls" and beneath that click on "Assignments."In the "Controls-Assignments" box click on "Joystick axes" at the top of the page. Select you CH Yoke in the Joystick Type box. Scroll down to "Spoiler axis" and press "Change assignment."Now simply move the lever that you want programed to operate the spoilers. You may have to reverse the direction to make it work right for your setup. Press "OK" and go fly.Zane

Hi, Adam.Until Geof can respond, I maybe able to help with some suggestions.>I would like to have,

Still waiting for mine!! Have it on order since July 24th at Provantage but still get the message that they are waiting for shipment from the supplier. Anyone received their order from Provantage?

I have my TQ also. I set mine up for 4 engine jet. I use the first lever for Spoilers and the last one for flaps. Works like a champ. Now I can add a little drag when desending.

Am I ever with you on that one Craig!I have been trying to find a way to explain THAT one for quite awhile myself, in anticipation for when I get a yoke and a quadrant (and that should be soon!)Your suggestions on planning will be quite appreciated!!!

Avcomware, Thanks for the info. A long time ago I got one of those adapters and did a fair bit of reading on the subject. Quite a few people got those Suncom throttles that were drastically reduced in price because, I think, Suncom went out of business. I tried several times and had no luck getting it to work. I moved since I bought the adapter, so I'm gonna start searching through boxes to see if I can find it. I'll post back after that.Cheers, Adam

Exactly how do you use the lever to manage flaps and in which program do you configure it to do it? I've just ordered mine from simware here in Europe and figured I'd get a head start.About explaining all your purchase to your better half, now that is a tricky one!! :) I sometimes say I have only borrowed it from a friend and some months later I fortunately did that friend a favour and get the thingy in exchange. Shame on me, I know! Then again, women usually manage to see through all our lies no matter how fool proof we think they are. And I cannot for the life of me figure out how they do it!! Is it because I blush? The stuttering? My eyes looking up to the left looking for that creative part of my brain?! Or that I offer to make differ, wash the dishes AND walk the dog?So she probably knows anyway!

The individual assignments are handled within FS. These are written into the fs9.cfg file. If there is a configuration manager that will allow multiple joystick assignments to be assigned and easily switched I'd be up for it. Even if you had to select the setup before startup that would still be so much better than going into setup and individually selecting each assignment... then going into FSUIPC and calibrating so you get reverse/feather/fuel cutoff each time you want to switch between a 2 engine and 4 engine setup/older Baron/newer Baron, etc (yes, you can set up FSUIPC for individual aircraft selections, so if you can control the fs9.cfg file better life would be easier).Regarding spousal explanations:* parents and wealthy relatives always seem to give these as gifts (remember to wait for your birthday or Christmas!)* a friend frequently purchases something that he/she discovers won't work on their computer and therefore either give it or sell at a substantially reduced price and who can resist such a bargain, eh,*then there's always a company that has selected you to do some beta testing and upon release you are expected to write an article touting the benefits of actually going out an buying this wonderful piece of hardware.* bargaining for something you really don't want to do but they do want you to do... ie re-upholstering dining room chairs, detailing their car, cleaning out the garage so you can actually put one or two cars into it (good for a lot of hardware!)The first three, while certainly creative are risky, the last almost always works for me :)Zane

Hi Geof-I also just received my TQ last night, and was wondering if you have an Map already started for FS2004? If so, could you please e-mail it to me at:Mailto:[email protected] will be happy to share my resulting file with you, and it will include the CH USB Yoke, TQ, Pedals and a version with the Pro Throttle also, which I still have. Thanks a lot,Howard

Yes I agree a bit about the Toys R US comment. Goes a bit for my CH Yoke as well but that I can live with I wouldn

I no longer have a need to use it, but the CH Control Manager does allow several maps that you can load. It sits between the windows drivers and the FS (including FSUIPC) app. You can in each map assign the various buttons and axis levers/peds to joystick virtual controls which is what FS sees. Within FS you do the assignments and settings with these virtual devices selected and then you do not change them. All assigning therefore comes from the CH Control Manager maps as well as non-linear sensitivities and other goodies all set up on each map.In addition, if a product has a mode control such as CH's Pro Throttle, you can load a map by using that devices mode button I believe even after FS is active. Never used it.I started with X-Plane which at the time had too restrictive device limits and CH Control Manager allowed me to combine multiple hardware devices into less virtual devices to fit these retrictions.

I can't seem to figure out how to operate my twin engines idenpendently. I've tried to change the assignments in FS but I can only seem to get throttle 1 to work. When I try to assign throttle 2 nothing happens when I try it in the Sim.I started fooling around with mapping in the CH Control Manager but all I managed to do was change the second throttle axis from R to X and can't figure out how to change that back either.
