Thanks.  Glad you think so.  These are unedited just resized so glad you feel that way.

Dont get me wrong, these are very pretty screen shots, but not at all realistic looking.

The sky is way to dark, especially at those altitudes and everthing looks to perfect with that much contrast. The real world looks a bit more washed out color wise.

If your shooting for realism try a sky set like the HDEv2 sky textures, reduce contrast a little and it will look more realistic.

Better yet, look at some photos from airliners dot net and/or go outside and take a look at the sky and try to make the sim look like that. It wont be as dramatic looking as your shots but it will be more realistic if thats what your aiming for.

Also check out edtroits videos and screen shots here. He uses HDEv2 and does a good job at making the sim look very realistic.

Thanks for the pointers.  The dark blue set of textures I am just experimenting with.  I Find it too much and unreal I agree.  As for contrast that all comes from SweetFX which i like the effect it gives on the aircraft.  I will look at HDEv2 then. Thanks again.

I just wanted to add the following 4 shots as a comparison to the above after turning SweetFX off and changing sky texture in REX (I know its a different airline and location), let me know what you think:

Great shots!

Also, make sure to try the day, dawn and dusk sky sets named 'REX Natural'. ;)

I think these look much less realistic. The first ones were a bit dramatic, but overall the realism was superb, lots of contrast on the clouds and you do get a deep blue sky at altitude. Anyway I think this is a question of immersion - a bit of extra drama makes you feel more "there", so that is arguably more realistic and what you should go for!

After all, the whole point of flightsimming is making you feel as if you are up there ... .
