And Orbx doesn't. According to the above post from Holger.

Does Orbx document this?

Must be horrible to be so angry all the time

Does Orbx document this?

That's called moving the goalposts.

Whether they document it well enough or not is another argument.

Nick is simply wrong about not being able to restore pre-FTXG.

LOL Who would want to uninstall FTX Global anyway...  [...] A  a simple reinstall of FSX will restore everything.

Point 1: anyone might, for whatever reason...no matter who rolls their eyes at the idea, any product should be easily uninstallable.

Point 2: "A simple reinstall of FSX"...are you serious? Oh wait, I forgot, just pop in the CD, click next next next and you're good to go...makes you wonder why everyone makes such a big deal of it...

I say this as a partisan of neither Orbx nor UTX/GEX...I have products by both, but the levels of partisanship being displayed in these discussions is just getting ridiculous.

Then where is the uninstaller? Come on Orbx, if your not changing anything irreversibly then an uninstaller should be extremely simple to create.

It's called being realistic.

If it's not documented users are unable to restore pre=FTX.

Point 1: true, and that's why Orbx is creating the uninstaller right now. I do agree it would have been better if they had shipped one with FTXG: I think no one will disagree with that... Would have saved us a lot of er... fun. ^_^

Point 2: well, yes, it's like that on my PC. Some people simply buy too many addons so it's their own fault a reinstall takes ages... B)

I already posted I like Orbx products so it's easy for me to say I'm fine with how things are going but I of course understand this won't be the same for everyone... The word 'partisan' is a bit too heavy imho: I already posted people take these things way too serious. I am only in it for the fun.  ^_^

Seems you don't know Orbx is working on that installer already? It will be released any time soon.

Nicks claims were false. Those were what was being discussed.

But I do know; but for all of that I had to use Acronis True Image to restore my system to pre Orbx mess up.

But that's too late for someone who wants to uninstall it now.

Oh, OK.  We'll just buy FTXG and not bother with airports, airplanes, repaints, modified aircraft.cfgs... not to mention ORBX regions with all their patches and FTX Central updates and object library updates...

Maybe someone can develop a simple utility to let us all know when we're over the add-on quota line.

Sheesh!

Often the topic is raised at FSDeveloper.com about altering FSX files. The answer from all the long time developers was the same: don't do it. It is recommended that you override with exclusions rather than overwrite with your own files. If Orbx wants to change this long standing tradition then it behooves them to provide an easy route back to default. To release an addon without this capability is reckless and shows complete contempt for other addon companies.

Agreed, they as other posters said, if there was disclosure of the product making altercations to the original file, and provided un-install with the program it would resolve some of issues users will have.  At least the worms are out of the can and people are finally grasping what really going on behind the eye-candy.

LOL I do hope you know most of what I post here is tongue-in-cheek and not to be taken too seriously. ^_^ (Although I DO believe some people have way too many addons! :P )

Well, no one can or will argue with that, I suppose.
