777-200LR VS 777-300ER

Featured Replies

Hi Guys  useless i tell you  i am really excited to wait for this other masterpiece PMDG branded. I love this plane and i understood that the expansion pack will be the 777-300 ER. At this point i would like to ask what are the main differencies between the two planes? I am not interested in differencies like Camera for taxi. I talk of systems. Performances and so on.

Thanks

A lower MTOM for the 300ER compared with the 200LR, similar performance (though not identical, not least because the wings are different). Shorter range as it can't carry the aux fuel tanks, and in fact it is fuel limited due to volume.

Thanks ! Wow the 200LR can fly from LA to Singapore and johannesburg without stop ! Impressive. Is it true one of the flight of the 200LR was from seattle to Hong kong flying eastward?

It was from Hong Kong to London flying eastward, so over The Pacific, Northern America and the North Atlantic that would be. 22 hours and 22 minutes

OOPS - was looking at the -200ER when I wrote that.

Best regards,

Robin.

Performance wise in plain terms: (I could get specific numbers but I am on limited time right now)

-Max payload range goes to the LR.

-Max Landing Weight goes to the 300ER.

-MTOW goes to the 300ER.

-Interestingly enough they both have the same max fuel capacity, depending on options if I am not mistaken (do correct me if I am wrong).

-The engine make is the same however the thrust ratings are different for the LR vs 300ER.

These are only a few of the differences and are listed in a rather simplistic manner. I do hope that it sheds some light for you though.

Cheers B)

The biggest difference is size!!!!!!!!!!  The -300ER is longer and heavier. Airport ops and flight handling will be different.

Cheers!

Is the 300ER confirmed as being in the works as an expansion?

yes. It will the first "Addon" to the Base Pack (77-200LR AND 777F)  (like the 736/737 was to the NGX). And to say it before this question will come up. No confirmation for the other models yet (200/200ER/300).

The other difference is that the 300ER sells, the 200LR doesn't:

over 700 orders for the 300ER, only 60 for the 200LR till this summer

I just realized that EK operates the 777-200LR, thought they would only use their 777-200ER

That's great news. I saw the ANA 777-300ER take off from KIAD and it was very impressive. Can't wait to fly that route :)

That's because not many airlines need the specific range that the LR provides. The 300ER is more beneficial for the average long haul airline since it can carry more pax. They're extremely capable too - EK sends them on ULR's.

Heck United announced a 15 hour trip to Australia from the US in the 200ER!

300ER will get all my attention (-: also really enjoyed first time flying freight currently in testing - love FedEx livery.
