August 21, 201312 yr Just like in most airlines you will have to suffer through years of 737 (or other short/medium range) flying before you can get a position on the long haul.....realism pure.....lol just kidding. There are airlines with 777/747 being an entry level fleet... granted, at relief officer position. --Peter Fabian
August 21, 201312 yr There are airlines with 777/747 being an entry level fleet... granted, at relief officer position. True but guess what their requirements (flight time) are? ;-) Rob Robson
August 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member To be honest, anyone who has the 737 is probably somewhat at a little disadvantage with all of the quirky differences. Additionally, there's definitely a feeling of "I feel like I should be doing something right now," but the plane's already done most of what you would've done, like set the Cruise and Landing ALT, or hit the fuel, or change the engine ignition to CONT... ...actually, I'll restate that: Anyone who has to be around those who have the 737 and didn't read the intro manual for the 777 are at somewhat of a disadvantage. We get to see all of the "IT'S NOT DOING THIS LIKE THE 737!!!" posts. ...and then the related fallout when someone says "read the intro manual," because that's apparently terribly mean. That's not to say you wouldn't get anything out of the 737. It's definitely a must have in the sim. Kyle Rodgers
August 21, 201312 yr hey Kyle great post you always hit it right on ,where could I get a copy of the intro manual thanks Michael R Carangelo B)
August 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member where could I get a copy of the intro manualthanks Comes with the plane. Kyle Rodgers
August 21, 201312 yr Comes with the plane. Next question, Kyle: Where could I get a 'copy' of the plane? What happened to AVSIM
August 21, 201312 yr Library Administrator The NGX is a must have all by itself. It is by far and away the most frequently used aircraft set in my hangar. But it should have nothing to do with the 777. Brian A. Neuman Proud simmer since 1982 using the following simulators: Sublogic Flight Simulator 1 and 2. Microsoft Flight Simulator 4.0, 5.1, FS95, FS98, FS2000, FS2002, FS2004, FSX (and unfortunately Flight!). Terminal Reality Fly 1 and 2. August 21, 201312 yr Hi OP, The guy who told you that is surely the guy that said the 2. wing would be an add-on.
August 21, 201312 yr Next question, Kyle: Where could I get a 'copy' of the plane? Do you have 165 mil to spare? It has been told that if anybody ever pays that, they will come and install the plane for him --Peter Fabian
August 21, 201312 yr Do you have 165 mil to spare? It has been told that if anybody ever pays that, they will come and install the plane for him I'd want naked women covered in strawberries and cream to install it for me at that price....and mow the lawn too
August 21, 201312 yr Ofcourse you must! Just like in most airlines you will have to suffer through years of 737 (or other short/medium range) flying before you can get a position on the long haul.....realism pure.....lol just kidding. Well, some of us have no desire what so ever to fly "Long Haul" in our careers. Why even bother when QOL is much better "suffering" as you call it in a 737 or other short/medium range aircraft. After 3 hours in the air I start to get really bored, just me maybe, however a lot of my coworkers feel the same. A lot of people seem to think that just because a pilot isn't flying the largest aircraft of the fleet that maybe it's because of inexperience or lack of something and that's very far from the truth. If a particular airframe offers a better QOL than the other airframe in the fleet you better believe that airframe is going to be the senior one, regardless of pay! Also, back when Continental Airlines was Continental and not United, a lot of my buddies were hired on the 777/767/757 fleet. Most of them bid right out the first chance they got to go "suffer" on the 737...Now why on earth would a pilot do that?...just some food for thought Reik Namreg

And I will not be using the PMDG 777 for long haul flights either, I promise you that! Zurich to Madaira with the 777 is more fun for me :-) At the moment, on this side of the world, my colleges on the short ranged are being sqeezed like grape till they are dry like raisins, I kid you not! August 21, 201312 yr No worries Rob, I didn't take it that way at all, lol. Same on this side of the world, they're sqeezing us to the point of looking like raisins. Hopefully with the new rest rules we'll have more productive trips Reik Namreg
