Default aircraft models poor

Featured Replies

After some testing I found the flight models of the default aircraft unrealistic although I thought they were more realistic before. (I have only owned FS2004 for a week now)Clean take-offs were not possible with 5 degree flap settings and trim set at authorized speeds to rotate. The Meljet a/c were a little worse (but beutiful-so much better than the standard FS 777 model...Melvin Rafi should make the 777 model for FS 2006 Microsoft contract him!).The Project Open Sky aircraft (757 tested) was the most realistic with clean take-offs possible.I suggest Microsoft work their aircraft so their aircraft perform to specs......their manuals suggest aprox. 150 KTS for 737 and 777 rotation speed yet positive lift at correct angle cannot be attained until 200 KTS+ AIS which is very bad for a simulator. Thanks POSKY for a decent flight model.

I downloaded my first addon aircraft from avsim a year or so ago and haven't flown a default aircraft since. They do the trick, I guess, but if you're on these boards you'll end up ignoring them...BTW, welcome!!billg

the only time i have ever flown the defualt fs2004 aircraft was when i was waiting for dreamfleet to update there cessna 177 cardinal :).I suggest looking in the file libary for some really nice planes bill lyons has some great vintage stuff not to mention the mutitude of other talented people.

I've always felt that the default Cessna 172 was accurate from my very limited experience with the real world plane. The other default aircraft I have no experience at the controls. As far as performance in a sim goes. I've been in FAA certified sims with worse physics unfortunately. Ours at the flight school is for Piper Warrior IIIs and in the sim it requires full throttle to start rolling on the taxi, requires full left rudder on the take-off roll and then a quick shift to full right as soon as the wheels lift off the ground just to stay aligned with the runway. Can't believe that thing cost 60 grand. :-lol----------------------------------------------------------------John S. How interesting, the thread above this is from a new simmer who is completely amazed on how wonderful this hobby is and here this other newbie has had FS only a week and he is already complaining about flight dynamics. Heck, I probably didn't even know what a flight dynamic was for the first year of simming... ah such an interesting hobby...

Yes, the C172 is very accurate in default a/c. That is very good.Microsoft, are you listening? You have a great product! Please improve it! ie REALISTIC flight dynamics......and additional Boeing Airbus and fighter jet a/c thanks

I sincerely doubt Microsoft will ever make flight models to the same level of detail and reaslism, as the fantastic freeware designers do. Microsoft are well aware that the freeware aircraft available are far better than the default aircraft. They actively encourage and promote the freeware/payware addon's for FS. Basically, Microsoft are providing the 'platform', in the form of FS, and other designers (both freeware, and payware) provide the more detailed aspects for the platform (aircraft models, scenery, and programmes that enhance the realism of FS).I fail to see the point in encouraging Microsoft to make better aicraft models, when there are literally hundreds of AMAZING quality freeware aircraft and addons available.

Remember also that MS is not just selling Flightsim to the "hardcore" crowd. Lots of casual players buy Flightsim and would not like to really discover how difficult flying a 747 actually is. Say for example that the next version of Flightsim had the Posky 747 as a default plane. The average gamer would we totally baffled by things like being overweight, fuel planning, tail strikes, step climbing, etc. Some people just want to get up and flying without having to think about it. Those of us who want more end up here. Our needs are met by the huge amounts of freeware and payware available.

MS has already made realistic flight models for the Cessna! How can I import my POSKY FD and use them in the Meljets I got?

>MS has already made realistic flight models for the Cessna!>>How can I import my POSKY FD and use them in the Meljets I>got?Seeing as how you are keen to criticise other people's work, perhaps you could work on improving the quality of your English grammar?Barry

I just compared the sim aircraft to real world flight and found it to be unrealisitc. I did not intentionally criticise people's work.If you wish to see me as critical then I don't mind (because I know my true motivation so I have peace in my soul).I only posted this thread so I can use realisitc Flight Dynamics on the 777s Meljet has painstakingly created and to his (Melvin's) credit he has a very innovative approach to his work. I applaud him for this and the flight sim community in general.I have already posted in other threads which are unanswered how I can do this.If you know please help me. Of course you don't have to help a critical person like me because I don't deserve it.I will improve my grammer, but if you want to take a swipe at me show me where my grammer was off-side. Or were you just taking a swipe at me for the sake of it?All I want to do is have a realisitc 777 so I can fly it in FS. The tail strike happens at 160-170 kts rotation speed (even default a/c) so I'd like to change it so it reflects typical flight characteristics of the Boeing 777 in the real world. Do you understand?

To know of real world flight characteristics so intimately, you do fly these aircraft then; just curious...

What real world experiance do you have of each plane that gives you the authority to say what is realistc and what isnt. What fuel and payload load are you using?, as this has a big effect on how any FS aircraft flies. In an earlier post you said, and I quote,The flight dynamics and realism on the default a/c are great,So whats changed?Dan.

Print the 777 notes manual out and fly it accordingly. Then whilst rotating the aircraft as in the real world (have you ever seen a real world aircraft perform rotation? I guess you would have and it don't hang at 10 degrees waiting for the wings to catch some air-on)you will see.Whilst I won't quote my experience to non-pilots who suspect me being whatever, if you judge for yourselves and use your brains you will notice what I noticed. It helps if you have watched a few take offs and landings at airports. It also helps to have experience but I won't go there.Ask a real world line pilot in this forum. If they fly a different type ask them how it is on their a/c, and then how it compares to the default jet MS a/c.Now thats not a hard assignment is it?Danielwww.danielmcaloon.tk
