A2A Cessna 172 now available

Dick, Have you tried making a change to the elevator_effectiveness=2 entry in the [Flight_Tuning] section of the 172's Aircraft.cfg

Reducing that '2' value to '1' may give you what you are looking for.

FYI, I was having a Flaps issues (would always move to 10 degrees) with the A2A C-172 (not present with any other AC) ... I upgraded FSUIPC from 4.91 to 4.92 and that problem went away.  So I loaded up Joystick tab for FSUIPC 4.92 and it was reporting my GoFlight TQ6 flaps data as 162-163 ... which simply is NOT correct (I confirmed my TQ6 calibration at the OS USB devices level and my TQ6 reports correctly and is calibrated correctly).

Anyway, I still made a new A2A C-172 profile (in FSUIPC) for my Flaps for my TQ6 just to be sure.

But point of my post was to make sure FSUIPC is up to date with at least 4.92 ... it "may" solve some of the joystick/usb device issues.

If anyone is getting stuck on the ground, it's most likely your controllers not releasing the brakes.

Here is a thread I just posted with a utility that will show you the values of your toe brakes in FSX.

I feel a bit stupid now, but I can't find this utility. All the thread links to is the actual 1.02 update...

Thanks, I couldn't remember where I saw that.....

Tried the 1.02 update but I'm back to being "stuck" ... can't move on any runway.  Is there anyway to go back to the 1.01 update?  Just re-install 1.01 over 1.02?

 I wasn't having any issues with 1.01 other than the flaps problem, but resolved that with FSUIPC.

Yep, I'm havin' that.... :smile:

Thanks, I was just on the look out for a colourful 'G' reg repaint for the 172; this is exactly what I was looking for!

 No probs glad you like it, it cought my eyer when I saw it and when I did I knew that was the one I wanted to do. I also plan on repainting it with a 'well used' scheme which if it comes out as I planned will look nice.

There is a slight error in the aircraft.cfg I added with the file (if you havnt spotted it), I missed a "-" out, I'll upload a new modified ver tonight with a slight correction to the reg ... the seporator - between the G and B is too low.

cfg should read

sim=C172

panel=

sound=

texture=G-BRGR

kb_checklists=C172_check

Thanks Rich - Just copied that over now :cool:

Anyone still have the stuck in the mud issue after the patch? The patch made it somewhat better, but I still have to use full throttle to taxi at sloped dirt strips(e.g 98TE Hilltop). On paved taxiways I think it rolls to easy, at 1000RPM.

If you think about it, if you are taxiing between 800-1000RPM on paved surfaces, and need full throttle on another surface like dirt, this can't be the C172.  This very test shows, whatever is controlling that dirt friction is way off.

If that's normal taxi throttle then everything is alright on paved surfaces for me, and I like the new "physics" it feels different after the patch.

But at hilltop(98TE) I get stuck when taxiing uphill, full throttle and the plane is barely moving, on top there is a turning point but I cant get the plane turned around because I get totally stuck up there :P The cub doesnt act like this, and no other plane either at this strip so it is the C172 that behaves strangely on these unpaved dirt strips,, at hilltop it's extreme.

But something in the patch made it better, before the patch I couldn't  get the plane to move at at all at "hilltop". :rolleyes:

And also had problems taking off downhill without hitting the log, after the patch it is still risky but I make it out alive...

Hmmm, now I got the clickspot issue, and FSX also crashes after flying for 10-15 minutes. I never had the clickspot issue before the patch...
