Ouch!

Badfinger, can I send you a patch later today?

I just need to think of the best way to handle it gracefully. The simple option is for me just to disable FS8 SDK aircraft reflections when the slider is in position 1, but I can probably do a bit better than that.

@ Paul this will only effect legacy (none FSX SDK) airports, and it will be worst as in the picture  if there is high degree of alpha used for the ground night lighting texture.

Posting this in a new thread so others who do not know will see it.

 If you have this in your fsx.cfg;

DawnDusk Smoothing=1 change it to 0

Some airports will give a wet look, almost like a lake if it is set to 1 during dusk n dawn

Airports like Flightbeam and Fly Tampa.

Not all airports have this issue.

Ft Dubai works night n Day, but the Papi lights don't work in DX10. You can disable them in the dubai scenery dir

I only get this when or after it's been raining, and I quite like the effect quite realistic to my mind.......

Next time it rains, go take a look at how tarmac looks when it's wet, I think it's one of "the" most realistic depictions I have ever seen!

Strange how it's so different on various machines, when I first saw it I was really impressed at how real it looked, slick tarmac after rain, I thought wow!  It really made me think about touching down on a wet runway. ( I'm a heavy goods driver, so I have a "thing" about wet roads  ).

No, that did not fix it Paul. When you set fsx to dawn you need to wait 5 to 8 mins, and then this happens. (Soon as the airport lights turn off.

So is this a possible bad re action to a sky texture ?

Edit: No, can rule that out too, tried Rex theme Reality, and still get the lake when the aiport lights turn off.

Others have had this happen too, not just me. omdb_2.jpg

This "wet look" problem with the "DawnDuskSmoothing=1" statement at some airports got me thinking. I had noticed that the ground textures at UK2000 Xtreme airports seemed to be darker than before when I switched to DX10 mode, and I wondered if this could also be attributed to the DawnDuskSmoothing statement. So I set this to "0", and........those ground textures were back to normal!

I am going to do some test flights with DawnDuskSmoothing set to "0", and see if I notice anything else. I always start my flights just before dawn, so it will be easy

True, let me know how the patch works out. Having said that, I wish we could have the wet look after rain still.

Thanks Christopher.  I have so many addon airports to check. But looks like Steve is onto it.

An update to this, Guys. Steve has recognised the issue, and is sending the beta testers a revision to test, and it will then be addressed er.. with an update.. a touch more patience is requested..

Thanks..

I know I can eliminate the PAPI "billboard" easily, but am concerned about the daytime black rectangles associated with each runway edge light. Any idea what settings in the fixer control panel might correct that,

I have the same issue. I disabled the PAPI, but the lead lights show as black rectangles at FT Dubai. Will this be addressed as well?
