BluePrint Airports

Featured Replies

Am seriously considering purchasing some BluePrint airport add-ons but before I flash the cash, wanted some rock-solid endorsements from anyone who has bought any of the BluePrint add-ons. Recommendations, etc.

Thanks

Rick Almeida

I have a few, not bad but they dont work with AES, which is a problem for me.

Hey Rick,

I would consider them as budget end of the scenery game.  They're not in FlyTampa's league or even close IMHO but if you want some good honest improvements over the default airports, they're pretty good value.

I own their KBOS and KMEM.

Blueprint is low end payware, it's a solid improvement over default & freeware, that's all.

Overall it depends on the airport you're purchasing.

KDFW:  FSDT is better

KJFK: FSDT v2

KLAX: FSDT v2

KIAD; Flightbeeam

KMCO: Cloud9

KBOS: Flytampa

Anything else doesn't have a better counterpart, knock yourself out.

Thanks a bunch Guys, for those feedbacks. I was not expecting FlyTampa quality. It's just that with the £ being strong v the $ I thought I may as well grab these low-priced sceneries that others like Flightbeam, or FSDT, or Fly Tampa are not covering. After all, anything is better than the default FSX.

They somehow look dead and lifeless.

Don't use them anymore

Okay, Oliver and Jude, thanks for that input. More food for thought before the cash is flashed, I reckon.

They somehow look dead and lifeless

I think you have indicated the precise problem by saying that they look dead and lifeless - that is always the impression I get from them too. It actually is a bit of a shame as they are quite good value and the modelling is good, but they just lack that somewhat imperceptable quality that brings them to life, which other developers seem to have mastered.

I would however also agree with those who say that they are a definite improvement over the default and, having bought most of them at one time or another, I would strongly recommend them for airports where nothing is available from the other developers mentioned above. Blueprint actually make in clear in the "about us" section of their website that their philosophy is essentially to improve airport scenery from a pilot's point of view and they admit that they don't provide the moving vehicles, animations and other features that bring the "ground experience alive". To quote their website: The needs of "Airport Simulation" enthusiasts are unlikely to be met by our designs. The last one of their's that I bought was KIAH and it really is very good but unfortunately again it has a slightly lifeless quality to it, although less so that some of their earlier offerings.

All that being said, if they produce airports in the future that are not available from anyone else, then I would still almost certainly buy them just to improve the overall FS experience.

Clearly it is your call, but I would say, on balance, go for it!

Did anyone mention UGLY?

Thanks, guys, even more food for thought. Glad I asked here before I just blindly went ahead and bought.

Well I didn't because IMO they are NOT! I think that is excessively harsh, however everyone to their own opinion.

I agree, that was a bit harsh. They still look better than the defaults to me.

It's not harsh when I feel I wasted my money. I could have put that money toward an airport developer like ORBX.

BluPrint airports are less expensive, but so are ORBX airports when they go on sale.
