September 23, 201312 yr I still fly my Aerosoft DA Piper Cheyenne in FSX DX10. Despite its age it flies beautifully (manually or via autopilot) and I love the VC and 2D clarity. September 23, 201312 yr HELP with this: I, too, love the DA Piper Cheyenne. I recently added the default FSX GPS to the plane for navigation. That went in well: however, I can't seem to activate it! It comes up nicely, programs nicely, but the plane doesn't recognize the GPS with I toggle it into a GPS (vs NAV) mode. Is there somewhere in the planes config that I have to put in a line for the plane to acknowledge the GPS signal? Stan
September 23, 201312 yr Good day, I fly the DA Aerosoft PA-31T for fs9 regularly, have had it since its release in 06. All the models featured fly very well. Is there anyone out there who knows whether there is a way to convert it for fsx?? ou toppie

That's what I did with the ol' Carenado C182. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090

Stan The GPS native to Cheyenne (Trimble) is pretty good and as far as I know a decent reproduction of the authentic GPS (which itself is dated). I found it great and a welcome change from the default FSX GPS. But yeah agree its a little less user friendly than the FSX GPS - but once you get the hang of it - its great and adds to the experience. There's an FSX version, or is that a separate buy? If I remember correctly (and I could be wrong because it was a couple of years back) the download page contained both the executables for FSX and FS9.
September 24, 201312 yr Thanks for the suggestions. My fs9 Cheyenne is the boxed edition not the downloaded one. I have checked Aerosofts website for a changeover patch but they do not give one. I don't think there is a way to just drop it into the simobjects/airplanes folder as there are textures/sounds/gauges etc to add also and I am not familiar with these sort of manipulating files/folders. Guess I might just have to wait till I can afford to buy the fsx version. ou toppie

Still, you could ask the question over at Aerosoft. I think they sell both aircraft in a package these days. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. September 24, 201312 yr Author Guess I might just have to wait till I can afford to buy the fsx version. ou toppie Hi, I just bought my fsx version a few days ago. While you can buy it as an fs9 or fsx version, it seems you have to buy one or the other. I just checked my installer and it says it is for fsx, doesn't mention fs9. It's worth checking at Aerosoft to see if you can install your fs9 version as fsx, but I don't think you can. In my view it's worth the money to just buy it in fsx if Aerosoft doesn't allow you to re-install your fs9 verison. The GPS native to Cheyenne (Trimble) is pretty good and as far as I know a decent reproduction of the authentic GPS (which itself is dated) Agree with that. Having just bought my Cheyenne my first thought was to replace the default Trimble unit with my RXP (perhaps in place of the weather radar unit.) But the more I play around with this little Trimble unit the more I am intrigued by it. One thing you can do I discovered is use the weather radar screen to display a map and NRST lists from the Trimble. I found a site that has a 243 page document for the actual Trimble: http://www.flyelite.ch/downloads/docs/TrimbleManual.pdf Good luck My system specs: Intel [email protected] - 5.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB DDR4 RAM, Noctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler,1TB Seagate SSD, 4TB Seagate HD, Windows 10, Asus 32 inch monitor, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Rudder Pedals and Trim Wheel Sims: MSFS2020 Preferred Aircraft Black Square Bonanza, and Baron, A2A Comanche, PMDG DC-6, Red Wing L1049

September 25, 201312 yr The only thing stopping me from using the Trimble GPS were those occasional CTDs it caused. There also was a problem with adding STARs but one could work around it. Other than that, I think the unique gauge (they could have used a default GPS instead) just shows how much care the devs took in trying to develop a detailed plane. By this, it still gets flown and I can't say the same for much more recent ones.
September 25, 201312 yr Thanks LeeL. Have tried moving as you suggest and all versions appear in aircraft list when running fsx but when I select one of them and press fly now fsx says it has a problem and shuts down. I am going to ask Aerosoft when/if they are going to do a payware portover as they have done with other originally fs9 only aircraft releases. Thanks for the help all. ou toppie
September 26, 201312 yr I guess I was lucky, never had a CTD problem with FSX generally and the Cheyenne specifically The only thing stopping me from using the Trimble GPS were those occasional CTDs it caused.
