What happened to Eiresim?

Featured Replies

Today I tried reinstalling Eiresim Alicante and Dublin after a total FSX reinstallation after a hardware upgrade but when I enter my details such as my email address and serial nr I get an error message telling me the details are not correct and same thing for both products.

When I tried going to http://www.eiresim.com the domain doesn't seem to exist anymore :O

The website link works for me. I'm not entirely sure about the activation of your scenery though. Forums don't work but here's the support email: [email protected]

Hmm...that's strange because when I visit the website I end up with a page saying the domain name has expired.

Thanks for the email address, will send them an email hoping that will reach them if they still are in business otherwise I guess I just lost two of my virtual airports...too bad.

I do have a complete copy of my FSX folder though from before I replaced my hardware, I wonder if I could maybe simply copy the Eiresim folder over from there to my new FSX installation and activate the scenery manually. If I don't get any other help activating the products I guess that could be worth a shot.

Are you talking about downloading the installers again or about activating an installation with some online checks?

I've got their stuff from Simmarket and can only say that the online checks are very sensible when it comes to copy&paste errors. So if you had a certain serial number 1234567 and there was a blank at the end, the system will complain about a wrong code which does show up correct for you unless you notice that invisible blank. Happens at times when you select text.

Well, if you just need new installers, the email idea of yours makes more sense or course.

That website doesn't exist anymore. I just checked for you. Takes me to a search page...

I do have the installers and also some updates, the problem like you guessed is when I try to activate the products and enter my details such as my email address and the serial numbers. I'm positive I'm entering the correct info without any extra spaces etc because I copied the information directly from the email I received when I bought the products and I didn't have any problems last time I installed the products.

What I'm afraid of is that Eiresim doesn't exist anymore and thus not the activation servers...

Yep...sure looks like that and I wonder if that means also the company behind the website aka Eiresim doesn't exist anymore...

Had the same problem a couple of years back. Have written the loss off. No longer purchase software from  developers that require online activation. Lesson learned.

Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

I sent an email to [email protected] and still haven't had it returned with an 'Unknown recipient' message so I keep my fingers crossed I will hear from them.

What I find a bit strange is that I haven't been able to find any information about this when searching on Google. If Eiresim indeed ceased to exist I think I should be able to read about it somewhere.

You have a good point about not buying software that requires online activation but it's not that easy in these days when in my experience that method is becoming more and more used.

Looks like the site is not there anymore.

I was able to use the same scenery in prepar3d by pointing the scenery config to the FSX Eirsim scenery

folder,so it should work for you in theory.

Ok, that's great news! What of their scenery was that?

Reason I ask is one of the sceneries I have seemed to require some kind of activation to work because when I looked in my backup I found a couple of files indicating that and I'm not sure if I'll be able to figure out how to manually accomplish that. Don't remember now if it was the Alicante or Dublin scenery.

I was using the Dublin Scenery in that case.

I'd better remeber to save these files in a scenery folder ,as I will surely need them again in the future.

I also have EINN and EICK.

I'll be buying the Aerosoft EIDW when it arrives, so the Eirsim Dublin is not so critical.

This is why I detest and protest against addons that require online activation. What happens when the company you bought from goes belly up? Let's face it, addon developers aren't exactly Adobe or Microsoft. Online activation is a big disservice to the community and flight sim users.

The only other thing you may need is some .fx files located is you /effects folder in FSX. It really should work otherwise.
