I completed yesterday a "real time" long haul flight, from KLAX (FSDT) to EDDM (Aerosoft)  ...11hrs and 45 min.  ....(obviously didn't spend the entire time staring the PC...!)..

The flight went wonderfully well, no OOMs, no FPS loss, no issues at all with the T7.......just had an Aivlasoft EFB display unit on the networked laptop crash 6 hours since take off which fortunately did not cause a complete crash of the system.

I have a fresh fsx.cfg with the basic tweaks (BP=0; FFTF=0.1; AF=14; Highmemfix=1)

The one thing, at least on my system that is really making the difference on this aircraft is using 1/2 Vsync and Unlimited FPS....no need to limit them as I have seen that the 30 fps limit is well managed by the 1/2 Vsync (but don't set the refresh rate of the T7 Panels to unlimited as it will introduce horrible stutters, set them to 15 or 8 depending on the system...I have all panels at 15 except the ND at 8......)

Eventually I also tried one suggestion I read on another topic in this forum...that is to deactivate the exterior model in the model.cfg file and I have to say it helps a lot in very CPU demanding situations such as complex addon airports (not having the chance of a "look outside" is not very nice, but at least the gain in performance is not negligible and unless you want to take screenshots you can survive without exterior view....) ....taxing in KLAX and EDDM has never been so smooth.

To complete the picture I have REX2 sky and water textures, GEX2 ground textures, UTX NA and EU, and Opus for Weather and camera views........no Ai traffic.

I am running a Sandy Bridge [email protected] Ghz, water cooled via Corsair H100 (temps remained stable around 57 °C for the entire flight) and a GTX680 slightly overclocked.

I was impressed by the level and the stability of the performance both of the system and FSX/T7 over such a long "endurance test".

Just wanted to share this experience with you and say that ...yes...the T7 may work fine...and throw some light of hope to those people that are still struggling to make this bird fly decently...!!.

Can you share your exact lines and where they are placed in cfg file would appreciate it, are you seeing the skeleton view changing to spot view and vc view as I can not get rid of this and I have a built from the ground up a new system and it still doing it driving me nuts as you can see my specs this should not be happening, thanks

For people who suffer from OOMs, Just deactivate an scenery you wont be any where near. It's tedious, but prefer it than crash on final

I made a similar post (cant find it to link) but all I did was to revert to the default clouds and use a reduced cumulus bitmap. I had fsx running for more than 15 hours straight until I terminated it to do something else. I flew from munich to rome and back in the ngx and then the t7 to hong kong and then a helicopter ride to an oil tanker offshore. Normally fsx crashes for me when I approach 2.38 gigs of memory usage but since the change, it stayed below that and tried to climb very slowly. Before I was only able to do one flight with the ngx or t7 and then I max out after parking and ready to do another leg. Do note that I run 100% traffic from three sources( in the new york area at around 5pm there are over 500 airliners), no mods to the t7 model, opus, all the ultimate terrain products, fsglobal americas mesh and some atc programs. My system is not that robust( check my specs) but I get decent simming rates ( I cap it at 33fps) and in super urban areas I get down to 9fps briefly. So it was the clouds that made the difference for me ( I was using hdev2). I guess every system has there own achilles heel huh? My 2 cents

For people who suffer from OOMs, Just deactivate an scenery you wont be any where near. It's tedious, but prefer it than crash on final

My understanding is that if you dont fly near scenery you have checked in the scenery library it wont load it ( or in memory) anyway...

If alot of scenerys are nearby eachother it maywell help, but for instance if your flying in orbx aus, theres no piont turning off uk2000 scenery in the UK.

............................

...and as the title says,...it works...but not the way it was intended too.IE no exterior model....

Regards

Luke M

I read somewhere in this forum that even if the scenery is on another continent from where you are flying, it still has a degree of effect on your VAS. True or False?

...and I am not seeing any skeleton view when switching from VC to external.....I have sometimes some slow loading textures in VC when switching back from external view....but that is all...

Note that I use Texture Max Load 2048 only for the NGX and T7 VC textures, but I use 1024 32bit clouds....quite frankly I cannot see any noticeable difference between 2048 and 1024 in PMDG VCs so I think I will definitely use a 1024 blanket value for everything...

Since adding this to my .cfg, I find that my textures load a little faster in my vc when returning from another view such as exterior. Give it a whirl, no harm in trying it.

777 runs fine for me. 21 hour long-haul no probs. No tweaks either, except for HIGHMEMFIX=1, but this is not a tweak; rather an actual fix.

Interesting comment on the EFB crashing after 6 hours. Someone else possibly had this take out the whole simulator yesterday, after about the same time.

Best regards,

Robin.

Well this is weird. After a Mobo problem and a complete o/s and FSX reinstall, I have everything set up on my new rig and everything working really well using FSDT CYVR as a bench mark, but when I flew from there into FSDT KDFW, my frames dropped considerably lower than at CYVR and I had some stutters.

I bought this airport just before my Mobo problem, so didn't get a chance to try it until now. I thought CYVR was the airport with the bad rep. Funny thing is that my memory usage for both airports (2.45g)

Memory usage is not an indicator of performance.

If it is slower, look at your graphics config, and general FSX settings. Are you running higher settings now than you did on your old computer?

Best regards,

Robin.

My Fix was Dx10 mode with Dx10 Fixer - coupled with SweetFX to make it all look even nicer, and now I get excellent frames, and smoothness, and never get an OOM now.

This is running at 5040 resoloution across 3 22inch screens, OPUS weather, GSX, FTX global and AES and online flying.

Regards
