Top fsx addon airports

I enjoy Aerosoft LOWI and Greek islands very much.

I second those, they are great. Even though Innsbruck might be a bit dated, it still is a fantastic scenery and adds a lot of immersion to the challenging approach to that airport. And the Greek islands by 29Palms are simply outstanding in every regard.

My favorite sceneries for America are FlyTampa's St. Marteen (need to check out the new release, though) and ORBX Ketchikan, Jackson Hole and Skagit (and of course the small fields like Israel's Farm or Walter Sutton's Ranch or Monroe)

Flightbeam. KPHX, KIAD are like magic. Oh and anything by FS Dreamteam....

Can't believe no-one has mentioned UK2000 airports by Gary Summons. Tremendous attention to detail and frame rates are very good. http://www.uk2000scenery.com/

I have the demo for this airport and it is nice. Unfortunately, I don't make it out to europe as much due to having focused my add on airports in north america. I have cyul, kiad, kjfk, kphl in the east and out west I have klas, ksfo, klax. This gives the ability to do rather quick flights on each coast and then if I was something longer I can go across country. I'm still developing my fsx collection, so I will eventually pick up more international destinations like UK2000, so I can hop across the pond.

Flightbeam's KPHX, FSDT KDFW and FlyTampa's KMDW are all sexy beasts of airport goodness.   Sadly though, I have to turn off Ultimate Traffic 2 when operating at KDFW or KPHX.    My 30 FPS gets eaten alive at these airports with UT2 on... like down to almost single digit FPS... it breaks my heart.

I can't believe that with the rig your running. Being here in Dallas as well, I fly into out of FSDT's KDFW all the time with UT2 airline traffic set to 70% and all the WOAI cargo packages installed for the FedEx and UPS at DFW and maintain 25 to 30 FPS into or out of KDFW using the T7 or NGX. I am using MegaScenery Dallas though, so the lack of autogen might give me a little better FPS, but my 2700K is only running at 3.8ghz. Plus I am not running any 2048 or 4096 textures or extended LOD radius when flying tubes. FB's KPHX gives me the same performance as well.

I wonder why your FPS are so low at these airports when using UT2? I assume you've mip mapped your UT2 a/c textures, no? That can help with performance for AI if you haven't done it already. There's a tool for it on the UT2 forums.

All of the ones mentioned so far are great. I would like to sneak one more in which I have been enjoying lately and that is LATINVFR KSAN.

Quite a few of those are big airports with lots of Ai which will drag down your frame rates. The beauty of flying in Europe or the UK is the small distance between airports and smaller airports like Manchester will give you good frame rates even with a lot of Ai.

Once you've crossed the pond stay here for a while and enjoy what Europe and the UK can give you.

Ksan would dovetail nicely into my collection. I just flew into there this summer. They opened a brand new terminal which was a week old when i walked through it. I wonder if the new terminal is reflected in the addon.

Naturally, this tool is link dead on the thread in question.    If it is such a ground breaking fix then why do people insist on not putting the file in a place that can go link dead?   Do you have a copy still hanging around?   I assume this is the thread started by Toby23?

EDIT:  Found the one by Nick here.  Giving it a go now.

MMMX is amazing, another payware with FSDT Quality Textures and great FPS.  My 2 best looking paywares this year are LHBP and MMMX.  MMMX also adds city textures around the airport.  FSDT doesn't.

Thanks for the tip about converting the UT2 textures cmpbellsjc!   Did another flight from KLAX to KSFO to test out the results.   Averaged about 5-8 FPS gain from that little tip.    My performance at KLAX (FSX Default) was actually worse this time around than landing at Flightbeam's KSFO up the coast.   XD      I think I am just going to have to pull the slider traffic back from 75% to 50% and see if I get even more out of it.

End results:    KSFO landing without UT2 MipMap fix: 10FPS      /     With UT2 MipMap Fix:  18 FPS

One of the other reasons you may have better performance is you are running 1920 x 1080?   I run 5760 x 1080 (3 x 24" ASUS monitors).    It's why I try to not to complain to much about FPS as I am pushing 3 times more pixels than most the simmers here?   I am sure if I fly on just one monitor I would be pegged at 30 FPS most of the time if not all the time but I love the surround view.   Don't need TRACKIR5 with this kind of setup.   I have to turn my head for real to see across the dash board and out the windows.

I am loving the KSFO runway 28L approach over the Golden Gate.

No problem, its an old school out of style tweak, but still works. Sent you a PM with some other info as well.
