November 4, 201312 yr I think "fly" needs to be qualified. Once programmed I don't really fly it. I do like to do final approach (and of course taxi and take-off) ... beyond that, there isn't much flying I do other than check NavAid and see if I'm ahead or behind schedule. So I guess to answer your question, I fly it about 10-20 minutes regardless of actual flight plan distance. I probably spend more time planning the flight. As far as flight plan distance, usually 1-3 hours, with 2.5 of those hours I'm doing something else. Now what would be really cool is if I could walk around the cabin, play some in-flight video card games, chat with passengers ... or if PMDG ever do an A380 checkout the bar, sleeping bays, the lounge, and just investigate the aircraft and interact with it ... hmmm ... 64bit would be a must ... maybe 2020 I can do that with P3D 5.0 ... or 2050 with XP 18 Rob
November 4, 201312 yr To be honest I never fly long haul, mostly because it's easier to accommodate a 2 hour flight in one day than a 15 hour flight. I really would like to fly something like KLAX-YBBN if I had the time. Thanks, Kevin L
November 4, 201312 yr My longest 777 FS flight was in 2009-2010, on the PSS/OVERLAND merge for 15 hours Stas H. IVAO ID 234784 VATSIM ID 999196
November 13, 201312 yr 16.2hrs DXB-LAX for VA, no t/c. Was able to work on other displays & oversee the flight for most of it. Dan Dominik "I thought you said your dog does not bite.... That's not my dog."
November 13, 201312 yr I enjoy flying it on the type of routes it was designed for, but this is obviously only for a select few I suspect, as I am fortunate enough to not have too many responsibilities after work and on weekends at the moment! Guessing you're not flying one of the Japanese airlines, as they have flown them on some fairly short flights. Think my shortest real-world 777 flight was three hours on United. November 13, 201312 yr I flew here 73°48′26″N 54°58′54″E ... the site of the largest nuclear blast (atmospheric) ever ... yield 50 to 58 megatons of TNT, the Tsar bomba. I set it up in LA with a full tank and went to bed ... woke up 8 hours later and she had travelled over the pole ... hit the waypoint ... circled back ... at was over the Midwest when I came back in to the office. I was smoke testing my new computer (i7-4770K OC @ 4.6MHz) temps never left the 50's ... it was a success. Other than that one I usually fly short flights 2 to 3 hours ... as my excitement with the plane is not listening to it hum for hours on end but setting up to takeoff and land with ATC controlling the whole thing. I usually seek out airports that are covered by ATC ... some are better than others however. I've had zero problems with the T7 ... knock on wood.
November 13, 201312 yr VHHH-EGLL flight several weeks ago was 23.4 hours non stop and no time compression. See this thread for route and details http://forum.avsim.net/topic/424292-b777-200lr-going-the-distance-worldtour/?hl=%2Bworld+%2Btour#entry2836110. Michael Cubine Michael Cubine

Michael Cubine I was going to say, normally a VHHH to EGLL flight would be around 11-13 hours. As you said you were doing a "world tour" thing. Kind regards, Luke Bischoff

Yes, I've flown some flights in the old PILOT'S SR-71, to Novaya Zmelya and back.
November 13, 201312 yr Have a bunch of longhauls since the 777 came out. Most of them 6-8 hours, but have been round-trip between LAX-AKL and SFO-AKL a few times already. http://www.vataware.com/flight.cfm?id=12552603 Fortunatly I have my work laptop and PS3 next to my computer and multiple displays, so I can monitor the flight and do other things at the same time. Speakers and SELCAL are great inventions! Regards, Karl Mathias Moberg
