Next video will be up this Tuesday (New Zealand time) due to my bandwidth running out! Don't want to be on dialup for the next two or so days.  :t4011:

3D waves looks awesome!

That is why all beta tester that have been released from their NDA should give all the info needed BEFORE peoples buy V2.0 and come back here asking why they (beta tester) did keep quiet about performance when questions were asked about it.

Why?

It's been pointed out dozens of times that P3D has a refund policy. There's no risk, no scamming, and no duping possible here.

People should buy it and see how it runs on their system and how they like it. If it doesn't fit their needs then return it.

As he wrote on that youtube, he got more fps & no stutter without recording. :-3

p3d is still in beta stage & Let me remind you FSX 1st release was horrible.

I can second that FRAPS will kill the smoothness of an FSRecorder play back. Anyway I am confident that all the doubters will be eating there words in a few days! P3D V2 is the future of FS not just because of the optimized code and new graphics engine, DX11 and new features etc. but first and for most because to of the backwards compatibility with FSX addons

I really have to laugh at all this. Will 2.0 be perfect? Not by a long shot and there will be a TON of "I told you so's"  coming. WIll it be better than FSX? YOU bet - it cannot help but be. Just enjoy the ride and stop complaining.

Meshman,

Thanks for sharing.  Looking forward to seeing more vids.  Was bloom/HDR enabled on the vid?

It really depends on what you fly.  For PMDG fans and others who enjoy complex jet liners that seems to be exclusive to FSX at the moment, it won't.  For props and VFR, most likely.

Yes.

Whoa! :fool:   I'm so sorry, Edward.  I had a few threads open at once and I thought you were Meshman.  Thanks  again.

True.

In regards to performance, Virtuali (FSDT owner/developer) says he all shadows on ultra-high with great performance on a Nvidia 670. I'm gonna assume he's running his sceneries, which can be demanding.

A 670 is not an expensive card. Newegg has used ones for $199.00. They are even cheaper on ebay. Even new they are under $200.

I think you can get 770's for around $300 now too.

Volumetric fog should logically create an FPS increase over FSX`s 2D approach to clouds since for volumetric clouds much less texture-copy/drawcall commands need to be made.

Since FSX is heavily hampered in performance due to the amount of messages to the CPU, any way to offload the the instructions to the CPU should create an improvement in performance, since (2nd factor) the GPU is virtually unused in FSX even the biggest/hardest instuction set for the GPU shouldnt make it burst in to overload because the GPU has pretty much nothing else to do.

...still looking for an answer to Alain's question. Since P3D does not use full-screen, does it still satisfactorily implement vsync (and the Nvidia 1/2 refresh rate version). Is screen tearing an issue at all in the beta?

I'm referring to the platform. Makes no difference what you fly, P3D will perform better. The fact that you favorite a/c does or does not fly is irrelevant in this context. Now, whether you enjoy it more or less, is a different matter.  :)
