November 25, 201312 yr V-Sync is working perfectly on my system, not a single tear, no need to faff about with N-vidia inspector anymore either, the options are all right there is P3D itself. FS has NEVER been so smooth on my PC, I really do mean butter smooth as well. Cheers, Andy.
November 25, 201312 yr the options are all right there is P3D itself They are indeed but they don't work on my system. I am using the latest official nVidia drivers btw.
November 25, 201312 yr If you zoom in quite much, to observe the area where autogen is loading, you will notice that trees don't pop up, they slide out of the terrain, and some houses slide out and some pop-up. So, it is viable to say some see popping, and the farther your LOD, less you will notice it in normal zoom. With about 0.7 zoom and max LOD setting, surely you can't see popping.
November 25, 201312 yr I'm using 331.82 and its working fine. Me too... Odd. And annoying. If I can't stop this tearing, I honestly can't enjoy P3D. It's really very noticable and too much.

November 25, 201312 yr The AA provided in P3D is nowhere near the quality of 8xS with 2xSGSS in FSX via inspector. The AA in P3D is 'FXAA' at 8xMSAA max. It just doesnt cut it for clear gauges etc at least not IMHO. Early days yet though..... November 25, 201312 yr Yes.. it pops up when you are in a single screen you don't notice.. but in a triple one where you have the side ones closer because the Fov effect.. it pop up. I thought they where going to make a fade in - fade out of the autogen. Even I still have the same rain - snow tunnel that ends suddently when you have 3 monitors.. They could not fix it? 3 monitors setup is something that a few people has.... anyway..... lets see what the future brings. Javier Rollon. Owner of JRollon Planes for Xplane
November 25, 201312 yr Early days yet though..... Yes, indeed, early days. P3D has some nice things but also a lot of flaws imho. But FSX also wan't good on the first day (or during the first year LOL) so I guess we need to give it some time.

November 25, 201312 yr You have perfectly summarized my thoughts. Our systems are pretty much alike, so I feel your pain I am also looking at a video card upgrade, but waiting for some more reports before deciding on a gtx780ti, Titan, or perhaps waiting for the next generation of cards.. Would love to see some benchmarks, but I guess it might take a while before we see that as release of p3d v2 was less than 24hrs ago. I just ordered a 770 with 4GB my 660's GPU wasn't maxed out but its 2gb of vram was! I just picked up this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127747 after shipping a rush processing it only ran $375 after the mail in rebate that is if I remember to do it. Its one of the fastest 770s clockspeed wise so I couldn't pass up the price even though I'm usally an EVGA guy. ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Type Ratings B-737, ERJ-190,ERJ-170
November 25, 201312 yr Patience is a virtue... Yes, but only for 60 days. If my main problems aren't solved by then, I'll have to ask for a refund. And knowing what I can/could get with P3D, I doubt if I will reinstall FSX after that.
November 25, 201312 yr That might well be but I have no clue what your preferred settings are... I am an autogen nut, for instance, and maybe you have autogen at dense. As I said, if I turn on shadows for buildings and trees, the performance get such a huge hit that I can't imagine even a GTX780 will fix that. Maybe I am totally wrong but those cards aren't cheap so I want to be sure... ^_^ I'm not home until Friday so I haven't got to try v2 yet but I think you might be surprised. With a 780 you are talking about 3gigs of VRAM compared to a 580 with 1.5gigs. With shadows, VRAM is a huge deal. Having 2x as much should make a major difference. In any other game, going from a 580 to a 780 will make a big difference. We are just so conditioned to FSX showing little impact from GPU upgrades I think that we forget how big of a jump two generations is for GPUs in the normal world.
November 26, 201312 yr We are just so conditioned to FSX showing little impact from GPU upgrades I think that we forget how big of a jump two generations is for GPUs in the normal world. That might be it. ^_^ I think I will do some shopping. The GTX780 has become a bit cheaper lately. I was also considering the AMD R9 290(X) but I am reading too much negative things about it, like the various models not performing similar due to fan problems. The GTX780 is rock steady and secure. I will also have a look at the GTX780Ti but I don't think the extra money is worth it (playing on 1920x1080 here). Or does it have more VRAM…? Then it could be interesting?

I had just opened a topic in the hardware topic asking about the importance of VRAM when I came across this discussion on graphics cards. The Titan has 6 GB of VRAM, which is double the amount of the 780/780Ti. However, in some benchmarks that I have read the 780Ti performs faster than the Titan. I am wondering if the additional VRAM outweighs the (significant) extra cost for the Titan. The 780 might indeed be interesting as well from a cost perspective.. I have no idea what to do  I am also playing on 1920 x 1080, but I may be upgrading my monitor next year or so if the impact of GSync is a bit more clear. You can find the topic I opened here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/427200-importance-of-vram-p3d-v2/#entry2861268 Best regards, Alexander Rietveld
