January 9, 201412 yr This is interesting, DX11 boosted performance with FS9, Flight, and Aerofly FS on my system. It's been nothing but a benefit. The only way I see sticking with DX9 is if you have an older video card. You hinder your performance of an DX10/11 card using an older version of DirectX. I just found that out upgrading my drivers for P3D v2. January 9, 201412 yr Moderator Nice shots Jimmi. I dont usually like sky sets as dark as that, but in your pics it looks pretty good. I'm also still on DX9 as I have never experienced any OOMs, FPS, or performance issues in FSX in the last 6 years. If I was one of the ones having issues I would have probably given Steves fixer a try, but like they always say, especially when it comes to your FSX setup, if it ain't broke, don't fix it :-) Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

FS9, Flight and will still use the DX9 legacy part of those DX11 drivers. FS9 and FSX know nothing about DX11, there is no way to make FS9 and FSX utilise DX11. Basically DX11 drivers include DX10 and DX9 parts for backward compatibility, that is what FS9 and FSX are using.

Yes, what I meant is that I'm using DX9 within the sim, rather than P3D v2 DX11 or DirectX10 Preview in FSX. I'm running Windows 7 with the latest DX11 and DX11 drivers -
