January 10, 200521 yr Bill,Yes, the Avanti comes with its own custom sound package.http://www.fsd-international.com/team/TD_forum_sig.gif
January 10, 200521 yr Flew the Eaglesoft Citation "trio" on a friends computer at the weekend. All very nice exteriors only let down by poor Virtual Cockpit textures.RegardsAdam
January 10, 200521 yr :-eek, what Eaglesoft jets were you flying???Eaglesoft has awesome VC's (great textures), the best there is... Unlike FSD, Eaglesoft has great night lighting as well. When I look at FSD's new Avanti at night and Eaglsoft's new CJ1, there's no comparison... All clickspots work, you'll find complete cabins in all the jets, what more could one ask for. There's an animated passenger in the CX which is a first in FS technology. The CX textures warp a little bit in the cabin when looking around but that's about it. This little problem is only found in the CX and is truly the only problem to be found visually. The Beechjet and Hawker will receive updated cabin enhancements to bring them up to the current standard so there's no complaints there. Speaking of the Beechjet and Hawker, you mentioned you only flew the Citation Series so these two older jets are a non-issue here. If you find Eaglesoft's VC's under par maybe you should wait for FS2k10's release because your expectations are way ahead of the current technology right now... January 10, 200521 yr Tim,Thanks for that info. Are there any more patches coming for the Avanti?Bill
January 11, 200521 yr I flew all three: Citation II SP, CJ1 and XThe "X" had the worst VC - quite blurred and not at all comfortable to view for long periods of time especially at night." your expectations are way ahead of the current technology right now..."Rubbish. PMDG and Real Air make superb Virtual Cockpits and they've been available in FS2004 for ages.RegardsAdam
January 11, 200521 yr Adam, why not post your system specs and sim resolution? The CX panel was designed and looks best at 1280X960 32bit color. Other resolutions do not do it justice. A nice sharp monitor also helps:-)
January 11, 200521 yr I played with the Eaglesoft aircraft on someone else's system so not sure of the specs but I know he was running higher than 1280 (probably 1400 or 1600 with the latest Radeon Omega drivers). Is there a demo of any of these aircraft available? I don't purchase anything now unless a demo is available (or I am 99% sure the product will be good ie PMDG or RealAir who have an excellent track record for accurate flight modelling and top notch panels). If I get a chance will checkout the Eaglesoft offerings on a lower res setting next time I am at the office of my collegue.RegardsAdam
January 11, 200521 yr You'll then purchase very few products indeed including FS itself.Unless of course you mean pirated version when you say "demo", as there's plenty of those (not meaning you're not honest and really do purchase it after trying that illegal version, you might be one of the few who work like that).
January 11, 200521 yr No.By "demo" I mean a time-limited or restricted demonstration file to evaluate the product before purchase - common among all software producers - apart from those who make FS addons. Why? With the price for FS aircraft add-ons going through the proverbial roof I no longer "trust" a company enough (with a couple of exceptions) to purchase a product without trying it first. You wouldn't buy a car without driving it..I certainly would not buy an aircraft (virtual or otherwise) without evaluating the claims made by the vendor before divulging my credit card details.I will add that I recently purchased the Flight 1 ATR but due to its complexity (from a PC performance point of view) had to request a refund as it would not run successfully on my current setup. Flight 1 were very quick to reply and credited my card. Excellent service. However had some sort of demo been available I could have avoided the hassle in the first place (and the
January 11, 200521 yr >I flew all three: Citation II SP, CJ1 and X>>The "X" had the worst VC - quite blurred and not at all>comfortable to view for long periods of time especially at>night.>>Regards>>AdamThe CX has one of the best VC's around; it is a given that you do need the horsepower to really appreciate it. It is definately not blurry unless you dont have the power to render it and your system is playing catch up to render it properly
January 11, 200521 yr Well compared to my PMDG 737-700/800/900 and RealAir addons the VC was poor(and the others run superbly on my system so it aint my "horsepower" IMO).RegardsAdam
January 11, 200521 yr Adam with a venue like Avsim and other similar sites, you don't need a 'Demo' version of the product in question. Many people here have similar setups as far as hardware goes furthermore many of us are IT professionals. If something doesn't work right on your system, someone here will most like be able to help you and ultimately find a solution for you. All you need to do is ask. There's but a few established companies like CaptainSim, DreamFleet, and Flight1. Eaglesoft is one of the major players. Just the name Eaglesoft should tell you it's an excellent product and the add-on will work on many different types of setups. January 11, 200521 yr Adam, sorry to hear that you don't like the CX but literally thousands do:-)Eaglesoft Development Group does not and will not offer "try before you buy" or time limited "demo" packages so it would seem that you will not become a customer of ours.Eaglesoft Development Group uses the Flight One wrapper system with the same benefits to the user that you outlined for your ATR purchase. While it is apparent that you are a PMDG fan there is no reason to make comparisons since they build what they build and we do Corporate Jets of a different sort.It seems like an apples and oranges comparison to us:-)
January 11, 200521 yr If you like PMDG then understand Eaglesoft is on the same level (minus FMC development). You need to start asking for help instead of giving up on products and asking for your money back or not buying the product at all :-erks. Coming from a company like Eaglesoft, if this add-on doesn't work right on your system I'm sure one of us (Eaglesoft included) can help you solve the problem and get you up and running like the rest of us... January 11, 200521 yr It's not "common" at all. In fact the concept of a demonstration version pretty much disappeared about 10 years ago. There's a few still, mostly from major new released games created by companies with a marketing budget for a single release in the millions. You may think it's easy to create a demo version but it isn't (especially for an addon to another product). If you make the demo too limited people will either reject the product (thinking the demo covers it all and finding it wanting) or will complain (maybe even think you're hiding something by only showing the best) and give the product a bad name.Make it too large and you loose customers because a large subset of potential customers doesn't need or want more than the demo provides.Make it time limited and people will dig into the code to remove the time limit, easily producing a pirated version. With FS addons it gets worse. Say I have an addon simulating an aircraft. How do I limit its use? Some groups have tried fitting it with a panel that only works within a few miles from a set location. They get complaints peope can't try long flights (doh...).Or people just put in a different panel (or even just different gauges) and your restrictions are gone.
