January 20, 201412 yr Hello I'm looking for some information regarding the Noise Abatement Procedure. I often take off from Gatwick and I am aware there is a NAP, however I'm not sure where the information regarding this is on the chart and where to obtain the correct information so that I take off using the rules of the airport. Can anyone explain to me the process and how I know I'm using the correct take off settings etc? Thanks Matthew

January 20, 201412 yr Here's ICAO regulations: ICAO PANS OPS doc 8168 Section 7 - Noise Abatement Procedures. In addition, EU OPS 1 (EC) 859/2008, OPS 1.235 particularly recognizes ICAO defined NAP. I don't know what's going on with US, as they have their own "TERPS" document. Lj. January 21, 201412 yr There's nothing much to be done about that in complex airspace - each airport is different and generalised procedures aren't too helpful in the real world. Gerry Howard
January 21, 201412 yr it's kind of a side effect of the liberties afforded to one by simming. in the RW of course for any bigger planes you would already have the procedures handed to you and probably been thoroughly briefed and trained on that particular airport or route before you ever had to worry about flying it! i agree it would be awesome if there was a global standard and repository for charts and etc.... airnav is so easy to use for the usa, and very comprehensive, dunno if the folks running that just have a better web team or more budget or who knows what other political barriers keep that information from being easily and publicly accessible. cheers -andy crosby
