DX10 - microstutters, DX9 - smooth

I completely deleted, and reinstalled FSX few days ago, but this time I went for SP1 + SP2 install. No Acceleration this time. I switched to DX10 mode using the Fixer, and it's running really good (performance wise), with locked frames @ 30 in nvidia Inspector. But these microstutters are very annoying in DX10 mode, every half second/second per stutter. In DX9 mode I saw microstutters, but they are rare, every few seconds maybe.

I'm running FSX in windowed mode, with windows aero theme (aero.bat started via FSUIPC), because without aero theme FPS is 50% lower, very weird. I've read DX10 Notes.pdf yesterday, changed some settings in Inspector and fsx.cfg, but the stutters are still here, no less, no more.

Deleted shader cache few times, no luck. Tried fullscreen, same situation. Tried to limit the FPS in FSX, with 1/2 refresh rate vsyng in Inspector, no luck. I've even tried BUFFERPOOLS with REJECTHRESHOLD (from DX10 Notes), and the stutters are still there.

Tweaks in fsx.cfg I added/changed:

[JOBSCHEDULER]
AffinityMask=14

[bufferPools]
UsePools=1
RejectThreshold=262144

[Display]
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=30
UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=0
WideViewAspect=True

[Main]
FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.12
DisablePreLoad=1

[GRAPHICS]
D3D10=1
HIGHMEMFIX=1
//ForceWindowedVsync=1 (no tearing with or without this tweak, VERY STRANGE)
MultiSamplesPerPixel=4
MultiSampleQuality=0

-----------------------------

Tried also various Inspector settings, tested, no luck. Checked for DPC Latency, all very low in green. At least I've got rid of that annoying very high DPC Latency that is present in DX9 mode. I have no idea what is caousing these micro stutters in DX10 mode, with or without the Fixer.

I'm clueless. :huh:

Thank you in advance for help and tips!

This may lead to conclusion that SP1 + SP2 are better for DX9 and Acceleration pack for DX10.

I use FSX SP2 becouse i never get same smooth performance in DX9 with acceleration. And i had those stutters with DX10, tried a couple of times and never found the reason. Also, a friend of mine tried DX10 recently with same results(uses FSX SP2 too).

Actually I reverted to SP2 because I had really awful performance in DX10 mode with Acceleration pack (installed over FSX without SP1 or SP2). So I thought let's try everything without Acceleration, and I;ve also read somewhere that Acceleration pack brings DPC Latency, but that's not true. I've tested that.

If you haven't tried this link yet I would do so. It helped me alot. http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html

That is for old systems.  It puts in tweaks that are no longer relevant. It was implemented in 2010. if you have a mid range to a high end system, do not follow the link above, but use the "How To" doc.

badfinger i use it !!!

but i have removed bufferpools and rejetshold and fiberframe,they are useless if you ask me.I dont se any diffrence with or without them

i have a i7 3770k 4,5 ghz

gtx 780

samsung ssd 500 840 evo

i had a simular experience in DX10 but i have got rid of these stutters using unlocked FPS in FSX and no external limiter. 1/2 refresh rate and Threaded optimization=ON in NI.

I only run windowedmode so i use the ForceWindowedVSync=1 in fsx.cfg.

Newst drivers WHQL.

Good luck

No luck with these settings too. Even more noticable stutters with ulocked frames without external limiter, with 1/2 refresh rate and Thr. Optimisation ON. Shame. I will continuo to research, but this starts to annoys me pretty much. Maybe I will end on overclocking my GPU, just to test it.

I never run with an FPS limiter either external or internal in DX10 mode. Smooth as silk most of the time! Using the internal FPS limiter used to cause DX9 style stuttering in my FSX.

I just built myself a $1900 beast this past September...Specs below: However, I also decided to remove FPS limiter. I find I got better performance by running internally at 100% max.

I overclocked my gtx 560 OC. A bit smoother performance with unlimited frames, but still with a lot of stutters. I also tried TBM=40 and 80, no difference.

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

What max pre-rendered frames i inspector er you guys running? i use 4 i seems to run better on my gtx 780 than 1 or 2.

I am back and forth between 3 and app. Controlled. Cant deside

I have bandwith at 80 and texturemaxload=15.sweet spot here

I've tried 1, 2 and 3, no difference. I will try now TextureMaxLoad=15 (30), but I'm not optimistic.

Do you get this in all aircraft?  That may seem like a silly question, but I installed DX10 yesterday with the Fixer and was loving it.  Took a flight this morning to test some water settings and was getting a slight but noticeable stutter every second!  What?!?!  I didn't notice that yesterday.  I found this thread and tried the solutions, and nothing helped.  Then, I thought, what was different yesterday?  Well, just the plane.  I tried several planes yesterday, but today I flew Ant's Drifter so I could get a good view of the water.  I reset all settings and loaded the A2A Cub, and stutters were gone!  Smooth as silk.

I don't know why Ant's plane would be different, but it is.  I don't know if this is your problem either, but if you're a one-plane kind of guy, and were always flying the same one in these tests, maybe try another.
