February 3, 201412 yr Proposing a "full on", time critical, baton transfer practice session this weekend. Also an idea to throw out, run 2 or 3 separate practice sessions at the same time such as 1 running at night in the pacific northwest, another running in daylight around Norway and maybe a third who knows where... B) and vice versa etc. This way we can get full pilot participation without the wait. Transfer post critiquing, post confirmations by teammates, posting checklists etc to be on the menu. February 3, 201412 yr I should be up for some practice at the weekend. Good idea to run more than one session simultaneously, although it might get a bit crazy on Teamspeak if three sessions' baton transfers coincided! Maybe we could use some of the other public channels already set up within the Avsim TS system, unless anyone thinks the sessions need to be private?
February 3, 201412 yr Roman, Sounds like a good idea to me, too. Maybe we should mix in some Sabre flights as well to wring it out like we did the Connie last year. Craig Taylor
February 4, 201412 yr Ok, I'll have the vpn thingy online, should you need it as backup. However, as the consensus in the private forum seems to be against using it in the race, it will stay a dynamic ip address. Brgds Sven Sendt fra min GT-I9300 med Tapatalk
February 4, 201412 yr I can't make any absolute guarantees, but I'll try to be there... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
February 5, 201412 yr Author It would be a good idea to get as many pilots on at one time so a proposed starting time (either day) should be around 1400Z. Main goals/proposals- - Shorter routes to get as many "real time" baton posts/handoffs in with the wingmen active. - Run 2 separate topics in Eammon's forum to give it a simulated load. - Pilots may jump from one to another practice run. - Critiquing of posts and TS confirmation dialog - Run it as the race. - Any aircraft for any leg. - It's the last weekend for any simulated practice, next comes planning :-) Below are just some quick routes I made up. They are random with only 2 criteria, low to mid range distance and the possibility of rotten weather. February 5, 201412 yr I probably won't be able to make it that early due to domestic duties and responsibilities. I think the earliest for me would be 1600Z, but don't let that hold everyone else up. I'm happy to join in progress. Craig Taylor
February 5, 201412 yr Author No problem Craig, It's just the highest probability to get the most pilots on at once. I too will probably have to step away for the "domestic duties and responsibilities" at one time for a little while. For all pilots - By all means, join in when you can. February 8, 201412 yr Author Gentlemen, 1400Z is not a rule, show up when you can. The proposed practice session is setup. On Teamspeak (private), the legs are set up. On Eamonn's forum, 2 topics are already setup too. ( see the TS private ) - Modify the TS text as necessary. Run TS like the race too - although minimal. There are 2 runs - They are short for one reason. Participation per post(s). The main purpose of this practice is the race hand-off & forum posting. Nothing more. You may fly wing,, But wouldn't be better to get setup for the next leg if open? Run simultaneously, meaning, if there are enough pilots online, and a slot is open for another leg/region, no matter where, get set up and run it! Fly whatever you want. (No X-15s or Space Shuttles) Simple rules Huh? FS RTWR SHRS F-111 JoinFS Little Navmap
