Hi all,

 

I purchased an Orbx region from FSS this evening, and trying all 3 of FSS's servers I am getting quoted with DL times of 1-2 days.

 

The file is 3.1GB but still, I am using a Fibre Optic High Speed Connection and would normally have that downloaded within 20 minutes.

 

I'm been reseting and trying all evening and still getting this horrendously slow download performance from FSS.

 

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this today.

 

I've emailed FSS but historically, don't tend to get a very fast response when emailing them, hence asking about it to a wider audience here.

Great to see you back my friend. Been quiet without you I just tested a download, and seems the servers are playing up.

It is about 0835 AEST so they are still having their WeetBix, so hopefully you will get a reply, or the servers are rebooted before you get a reply.

Hi Dave, I'm testing with a redownload and it's a "solid" 35 KB/sec from their global server.   :wacko:

 

I'm not aware of brand new releases that would bring their servers down, though.

That is strange Olli, I only live next door and I get failed download on all the servers. Your right though, there is no new releases.

Just bought a software from them and just can't get it. No matter what server I choose the download speeds are just awful, not to mention that every now and then the download just fails. A time goes by and new trials are made, the available download quantity is quickly heading towards zero!

Will avoid this place from now on.

Just about everyone at ORBX forums are trying to get anything downloaded without success. Im going to wait till next week and in the meantime tease myself going through screenshots..

Downloaded a couple titles this afternoon without any trouble. Wasn't blazing fast, but both were in the 3mb/s range.

This topic is *OLD* and currently there is an ORBX sale running at FSS. (Got all my seven titles downloaded quickly, though.   )

Proberly due to the May sale on at the moment?

Those poor servers are probably getting hit hard... Of course, it doesn't help that we're all trying to download entire regions like the 3,6 gig download of Norway I'm waiting on. 

 

It's a good thing it's a month long sale. Maybe that will spread the heavy loads a bit.

Took me 5 goes between ordering late last night to a few hours ago to finally download a 3.53 Gb file. It was alluded in another thread elsewhere  that perhaps the Sale was putting a load on the various servers dotted around the globe.

Got all my seven titles downloaded quickly, though

JV over at ORBX had to smack a poster for consistantly complaining about FSS and poor download speed. According to him you really must use a download manager and there is nothing wrong with FSS and download speed.

 

I agree FLASHGET v3.7 is an accelerator and about 30% faster than stock

at 36kb/sec

 

 

Between 2 MB/s and 4MB/s.

 

At 36kb/s I would have made that a process running in the background, instead of watching the progress bar for hours all night long.  

 

Or look at it the way PMDG do: Your download will be completed soon^TM.   :ph34r:
