If I understand your question, yes.  I thought I mentioned it above.  Rotate the mouse wheel to change the cowl flap percent.

Hook

You mentioned: "Cowl flaps:  If you middle click on "cht" on the engine panel, you get other options, one of which is to set the cowl flaps.  Most of the entries have alternate displays when you middle click on them."

Middle clicking the mouse works to select a item e.g. to cycle to cowl flaps.

But, on my system, rotating the mouse wheel does not change the cowl flap %.

If I rotate the mouse wheel e.g. on throttle or prop .. it works ok.

Edit: I was testing in FSX.

I'm using FSX too.  If the mouse wheel doesn't work, try left or right clicking on the value.  Hm, actually, that's probably the only thing that works, come to think of it.

Honestly, I can't wait for the vintage cockpit, just to get rid of this problem.  :D

The mouse clicks nor the mouse wheel change the % cowl open/close.

What Alan previously mentioned:

"There's no cowl flaps switch in the current VC, so you've got to use control-shift-V to open them and control-shift-C to close them.  Four presses each way from full open to full close.  I'm sure Jan Visser's new VC, when it gets here, will have cowl flap controls but right now, that's the solution."

That does work and it updates the SHFT + 3  panel. (I think Alan said SHFT + 1 and SHFT + 2) with a new % cowl data.

I've never ever used control-shift-V and control-shift-C.  Click on the percentage and try left click to close the flaps 10%, right click to open them 10%.

Larry,

Yes, Right clicking first on both works just fine.

If I Left click first .. nothing happens .... now I know how it works.

Then, naturally, Left clicking also works.

Thank you for your help.

I've edited .wav files, but the fix for me in this case was editing the sound.cfg file to lower the internal engine sounds.  Mostly it was adding:

maximum_volume=8450 // LDH

at the bottom of the entries for the internal engine sounds, including startup.  ("LDH" is my initials, so I can find all my changes with a quick search)

Shutdown volume needs to be 9100 to match the other sounds.

Hey Larry, I have the same issue with the engine volume. I have taken a look at the sound cfg but can't work out what entries to change. Is there any chance you could post a screenie of your cfg for us lesser mortals? It would be appreciated. Cheers...

For pilots using the FSX / P3D basic checklists and have installed the MJ_C47_Texture_Basepack.

You may need to change (as far as I can tell) references in the Aircraft.cfg file to point to the correct Checklist and references.

All should have:

kb_reference=douglas_c47_ref

Not this:

I have taken a look at the sound cfg but can't work out what entries to change.

Here's the first entry:

[COMBUSTION.1.00]
filename=PW18_rpm1_left
flags=0
viewpoint=1
rparams=0.001000,1.021000,0.218000,1.255000
vparams=0.002000,29.279879,0.030000,27.587788,0.088000,26.910629,0.106000,13.032090,0.133000,6.939270,0.175000,0.000000,0.466000,0.000000,0.498000,0.000000
link=COMBUSTION.1.01
ConePitch=0.000000
ConeHeading=0.000000
InsideConeAngle=360
OutsideConeAngle=360
OutsideConeVolume=10000
full_Scale_Distance=100
maximum_volume=8450 // LDH

You'll need to add this to all the "PW18_rpm" entries (not to xPW18), the "PW18_start" entries (both engines), the "PW18_noncombust_left" entry, and add the line but with the volume set at 9100 for the "PW18_shutdown" entries.  That's 15 "PW18" entries and two "PW18_shutdown" entries.

Hope this helps.

Have installed in FSX first, as others in the thread have also, but I have had a problem.  After I installed the C47 flew it a bit, then selected another aircraft (the Razbam Metroliner), there were strange red lights on parts of the panel.  I removed all of the C47 files (simobjects, effects, sound) and the red lights went away.  Anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing this?

Probably selecting a comlex addon after flying a complex addon.

Never a good idea and most developers advise against it.

Hi guys,

I've edited the internal wav files to lower the sound volume themselves for when Jan released the vintage cockpit.  Many want to have a complete package instead of downloading all three packages.  So I think when v.3 is released everything will be together in one package.

Great job LHookins!  This was my first sound pack and had limited experience.  Manfred convinced me to release it, as I was not going to.
