Thanks a lot for bringing the info regarding 10.30 here.

Very much appreciated.

For me as an - overall - still newbie to X-Plane i am still always forgetting about the existence of "the blog" ... although slowly getting used to not forget it.

^_^

Other than that though and in regards to the "chicken-egg-dilemma" with X-Plane and 3rd party developers,

users and X Plane,

users and developers ...

- and that altogether often turning in circles and circles …

and because it is also being discussed here a bit ...

Well, i fully second to what was also pointed out in #21 for instance.

And my two personal cents here for now:

I re-installed X-Plane on my PC a few weeks back, did some reading here and there and within some hours of fiddling around i had a nice working - and for what is promised - good looking flightsim, within which i now really enjoy flying around from time to time.

But:

Am i already truely convinced that X-Plane is a superb flightsim which really fulfils what i am expecting from a current flightsim - No.

But:

Do i give it a serious chance currently by showing my support due to offering time for/with it and also by spending some amount of money for some real great 3rd party add-ons -

Yes.

And why?

Well, simply because i am convinced that, after some first attempts and fiddling around with the indeed somewhat strange GUI or so on - i got into X-Plane somehow. Yes: It really got my attention and as by now i don't want to miss it anymore on my PC.

So - and again only personally speaking here:

I can highly recommend every flightsimmer around who has an interest in X-Plane (or who wants to check out various simming platforms in general) or who may even have X-Plane somewhere at home stored on a shelf, but not in use currently, to even try out it's current 10.25 version.

Sure:

Our all personal simminmg-time is often to limited and very precious - so all just as long as it really fits.

But overall it may most likely not take longer than one or two afternoons to get it all set up properly.

Afterwards though X-Plane offers - at least to a certain extent - quite some nice time flying around within it.

Why am i writing all this down ...

Well - again only my personal thoughts here:

Because in the end, we (the users/flightsimmers) can go on complaining about what we expect from and/or why we don't like this or that about X-Plane - but - i just also somehow believe that the chances to really change and improve this situation to th ebetter will rise noticeably, the broader and wider the userbase becomes - and the more vital the "community" also plays/flies around in X-Plane.

And sure:

There will and can never be a full guarantee that our expectations will all really be met.

But as for now and - again - from my personal (user‘s) point of view, the most "serious" or „sutainable“ step i can currently undertake to - at least eventually - break through that mentioned circle of "smaller user base, less developers, less of progress from Laminar's side ...", is to go flying in X-Plane, check out some add-ons, show some interest and all that … simply speaking:

To make it become more and more alive.

X-Plane will always be Laminar's flightsim with its very own uniqueness. Some of this uniqueness we may like more, some of it we may like less.

But X-Plane certainly can turn out to - finally - become a flightimsim highly appreciated by all parties:

Users, 3rd party developers and sure: Laminar

And as a user at least - well:

I am in it for now - and it looks good so far - so:

Time to really making it even better.

Only my two cents here though.

Enjoy flying and happy landings.

How fortunate are we to have a simulator that has an active development team continuously improving the product.

All good things in time.

Have they said anything about the next major iteration? Is it going to be 10.40 or 11?

Let us first get the 10.30 at least :)

I know, I was just asking if they've said anything about the future. I think they started talking about 10.30 long before 10.2x was finished.

? I meant after 10.30.

That was a joke of course. They haven't yet provided a list for 10.30 so speculating on their next move is like talking about angel's sex.

And yes, I was quite disappointed at first glance when reading Ben's post but, like some above, I'm new to XP and I have still so many to discover and enjoy, aircraft to buy and sceneries to download that I can wait one more year until they, hopefully, provide seasons and a working ATC.

When I see Aerosoft selling night lighting15 € for each country I really smile and say to myself "I've already got the best night lighting for free".

Regarding cockpit views I'm so happy with TrackIR and Pilot view plugin that I feel no envy for what I used in FSX (Opus camera) that was much more harder to configure.

Five minutes and I have the best camera system in Xplane.

Ah ok sorry did not know about.
