March 31, 201412 yr I have a MEL rating in real life. One of the biggest lessons in multi engine flying is proper engine inop proceedures/handling...etc. For me, the 310R was the first FSX twin to really drive home the scary 'OH S#$T!' sensation when failing an engine just after take off. Makes you remember the importance of Vmc factors LOL http://www.glenndale.net/flight_training/training_aids/VMC_Factors.php Go ahead, fail an engine just after takeoff in a lightly loaded 310, see if you can recover "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Tejon 'TJ' Stanley

March 31, 201412 yr Moderator Look forward to that. Here you go then, Rick! http://forum.avsim.net/topic/438303-milviz-c310r-tutorial-missions/ There is a link there to a sub-folder on my ftp server where all six Tutorial Missions may be downloaded separately, or as a single zipped file (315MB). In any case, you must at least download and install #1 as it contains a custom version of Portales Airport where Ken's C310R is based. Fr. March 31, 201412 yr I'll put them on my private ftp server and make links available in the Milviz forum here at AVSIM.Thanks for this, Bill. I look forward to running them. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.

March 31, 201412 yr Agree with pilottj, Cut an engine at takeoff and see how you fare! The real 310 is quite the beast in that situation as well. Unless you've got a few hundred feet under you,are clean, and are getting well past that blue line, the best thing to do is close the throttles and land/crash straight ahead. Below that, if you're thinking of taking that dead engine flying, it will be a short flight. Rudder pedals are a must, once you give that last few inches of power, it really tries to go off the side, unless you're on your toes! Don
March 31, 201412 yr The C310 is really nice - yes their (Milviz) Baron B55 may have nicer cockpit eye candy Earlier this month I rode along on a flight in a 310 and have to say that sometimes its just not about eye candy. Here is a link to a typical 310. Check out the photos of the panel and you will see that the MilViz 310 is pretty realistic. http://www.trade-a-plane.com/detail/aircraft/Multi+Engine+Piston/1980/Cessna/310R/1744934.html Frank Patton Corsair 5000D Airflow Case; MSI B650 Tomahawk MOB; Ryzen 7 7800 X3D CPU; ASUS RTX 4080 Super; NZXT 360mm liquid cooler; Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM; RMX850X Gold PSU;; ASUS VG289 4K 27" Display; Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Crosswind 3's w/dampener. March 31, 201412 yr And are sceneries from LatinVFR and TropicalSim worth buying? Rick, Don't see that any of us addressed this question. I have a few of LatinVFR's Caribbean sceneries. Cayman Islands, Montego Bay and Kingston, and I believe also Cozumel. Also have Key West. They are very nice. I usually fly one loop down into the Caribbean each year, to imagine I escaped from the winter snows..... They are fine for that. They do include considerably more scenery than just the immediate airports. I do not have any of their more detailed USA airports like Miami or San Diego. I do not have any experience with TropicalSim products. March 31, 201412 yr i bought it friday night and love it ! It is the most stable ga add on I ve seen as far as flight dynamics. If you like GA you cant go wrong with this one. I flew it around the volcano at Guatamala city and had a enjoyable flight. I find it quite squirrely but that's how the real thing handles so I like it ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. March 31, 201412 yr Author Nice one, Frank. I'd noticed that but did not want to comment as I thought, well maybe it's gone by overhead. So, thanks for addressing. As it turned out, as simMarket had reduced their prices by half, which is where I got the MilViz C310R as a Deal of the Day, I bought Montego Bay, Cayman Is., and Sao Paulo Guarulhos. Just tried Montego Bay. Maybe I don't have the Gfx card to do it justice but flying in the C31R, I found the ground textures looked a little blurred, unlike the ORX textures such as Darrington where every blade of grass is almost visible. Still, cannot complain for what I paid for them. @David Womacks I know precisely what you mean. I can take off in the PMDG 737NGX and the 777 dead on the centre line, but this thing takes twice the effort. Rick Almeida

March 31, 201412 yr Do these LatinVFR sceneries 'play nice' with FTX Global? I cannot answer that. Perhaps someone else will chime in. I found the ground textures looked a little blurred, unlike the ORX textures such as Darrington where every blade of grass is almost visible. Appears our systems are highly comparable. I have the 560TI 2gb. The first year I flew to the Caymans and to Montego i was using an OEM version Radeon 6750 and I had trouble with REX E+ clouds with that card. Then I upgraded to the 560TI. Got rid of the cloud issues but I honestly do not notice any difference in the scenery rendering. I did recently get notice of a V2 update to the Caymans scenery and installed it before I flew there this winter. Can't say I noticed a lot of change, but it had been a year since I was there last. I like that they added character around the airports more than I appreciate the airports themselves. April 2, 201412 yr Author Just had my first long flight in this delightful aircraft from Montego Bay to Cayman Islands(both recently acquired LatinVFR airports). Other than not being able to locate the handbrake, this aircraft is a joy to use for GA flights. Even more pleased that I got it in a Deal of The Day as it went back up today. Thanks to all for endorsing this li'l beaut. Rick Almeida
