Aerosoft/SimWings Madrid (LEMD) scenery - any good?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of buying the Madrid scenery from Aerosoft made by SimWings but I noticed it's quite old and still quite pricey.

For you guys already having this scenery on your disk, do you find it worth it's money despite it's age?

I'm curious as well. I've been eyeing several of the "Mega Airport" sceneries, but I've heard of some performance issues with some of them since they're older and not as well optimized.

It's ok, but yes, it is looking a bit old.  Maybe wait until they have some discount on it.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

I was afraid that would be the case, too bad since I want a good FSX scenery for Madrid.

Will keep my eyes open for a sale over at Aerosoft for this scenery because I'm not particularly tempted to pay full price for an old and bad performing scenery.

I don't mind an older look, but how bad of performance are we talking?

Yeah, that's an interesting question!

Maybe it could be compared to some other old Aerosoft scenery?

Performance is on a par with Mega Lisbon, Better than EDDF and not as good as EDDM  It is your typical sim wings mega airport.

I have had no performance issues, and make sure you have fsuipc, as it has missing objects that cause g3d.dll errors. Another airport to compare would be EBBR.

Same here as Julian's observations too. But not been there for ages.

I have several of their sceneries (though not Madrid) and they are all of a very high standard - I think I've enjoyed using them all and for me the only stuff I've seen better is ORBX in general.

You won't get any performance problems if you are running decent equipment, though I did have a few problems before I upgraded.

I found the same with their sceneries in FS9 - performance issues when I was running a marginal setup but once upgraded, they are fine.

Many thanks for your input guys!

I have both EDDF and EBBR and no performance issues at either one of these airports so I guess I should be fine with LEMD as well.

However I think I will hold for a while hoping for a sale over at Aerosoft.

I think some of those really old releases like Madrid, should have a permanent mark down.

It's 20% off on the Aerosoft site now. Did you get it WebMaximus? And if so, is it worth the money?
