Happy Birthday to HM The Queen

the queen doesnt "run" the country,  the government does,

What makes you think I need educating on this?  Thanks for your wisdom but I was not in any way talking about the instruments of governance, like politicians,  I was talking about the head of state, who is the Queen, and who let's not forget, appoints and (supposedly) calls the government to account.

I am happy for you in your Conservatism - hopefully you're in a group and regional demographic that get's "looked after".   Until you've seen entire communities wiped out of industry and a living, across 3 generations, then perhaps suspend judgement on how others are affected by the divisive tory regimes this country has suffered over the years.

Any way, last post in here on this - if someone was entitled to show support and encourage for the leader of the non-democratic state regime in Britain, then I was entitled to object to it.     But I've no interest in arguing with narrow-minded tories on a flight sim forum.

ironically the dept prime minster Clegg flew with my airline today and the a/c went tech in Germany  for 3 hours, poor bugger had to sit in lounge with the voters with out a script to use

And no Dave I live in Greater London where I pay a ridiculous amount of rent 1200 for a tiny flat in a not so nice area of town, on a salary of under 30k a year, whilst public sector workers with zero qualifications are on 40+

It's common knowledge that all government awareness and policy are intended to serve those within the M25 only.

They are all the same, Labour, Tory, Lib Dem.  Once every 5 years we get to change the colour of our dictators, Red, Blue or Orange / Yellow.

The queen whilst being head of state has very little, to no, power on legislation in the country.  She can refuse to sign laws, i don't think she has ever done that, or any reigning monarch for a long time.

On balance regarding the queen and the various members of court i am with Dave above.  I think after she dies, that should be it, no more monarchs, no more lords, ladies, earls, or barons.  They should have gone the way of the dodo in the enlightenment.

Wow, you've bought into the propaganda on public sector staff, all those pesky Doctors with no qualifications working to save lives, evil guys!  Not like those brave private sector bankers and CEO's striving for the good of mankind!

I thought you had to be qualified with a degree to be a banker, the same with CEOs ??

and my geography  is quite good thanks Dave, 10 years doing long haul and 5 doing short...many nights in hotels doing flights in Manchester, Leeds, teeside, Newcastle etc etc .

Lol - I love arguing, the thrust and parry of a debate, but you are right, this will be closed shortly.  Not Dave's fault though, it was always going that way.  The monarchy is a fairly divisive issue.  Though the Queen is generally well respected, the institution is somewhat less well liked.

I'm not sure that is true.  I am sure that Doctors need degrees.  What about sports stars, don't tell me Rooney has a degree, is he worth 250K per week???  Are care home staff worth minimum wage?  Should having a degree determine your personal worth, what about other qualifications?

I would assume that anybody who works in the public sector on 40K+ would be suitably qualified, including advanced qualifications.

I really find the 'public sector bashing' in the UK distasteful, bordering on offensive.

I enjoy it too, but this is a flight sim forum - and an international one at that. This isn't the place for political soapboxes.

Why was it "always going that way"? Unless you assume it's a given that some people simply can't control themselves when they read something about the Queen and have to dive in head first with posts like this:

Happy Birthday to her as a human being.

As a member of an unelected 'elitist' family, who rule a country purely due to a blood line, rather than anything democratic, I'm less keen.

It is funny when you think about it, that the western world is keen to 'force' democracy on the arab nations etc, yet one of the oldest nations in the West isn't a democracy at all!!..... with an unelected, unchallengeable head of state based purely on herederitary lines!

Here's hoping the Scots will have sense and will break away from the UK, and following that all the nation states of the UK will become democratic, independent countries;  England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.   Each led by people that understand each individual country's priorities and interests; rather than by some self-interested old Etonian posh school boys in Westminster, who still think it's 1740.

These views aren't about left wing versus right wing  -  they're about democracy, hypocrisy, and the death of elitism, that preserves the interests of the rich and privileged in the UK.

But, of course, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIZZIE !!!!

I come to Avsim to read about flight sims. We get more than enough of this hyperbolic rubbish everywhere else without dumping it in a flight sim forum as well.

You're joking, right? None at all are required, even though quite a lot do.

Those degrees clearly didn't serve the guys at Lehann Brothers well.
