April 26, 201412 yr Author This might be of help.. http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/ils.htm Thanks Jay. Sure, I have that info in my exercise books! I have seen and digested, but I tend to forget things these days! I will have to brush up on things... April 26, 201412 yr Yea I had this problem in the NGX landing at LGA. The course was messed up and had me landing next to the runway. I was very new at using the plane so I couldn't figure out what was wrong until I looked at the FSX map and saw the ILS course was different in FSX than what was on the FMC. Sportsfan, how did you resolve the lga problem with the NGX? Rob Marton
April 26, 201412 yr Make sure you update your navaids on this site: http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids2.html While a good suggestion, this won't do much for most airports worldwide. This data will update enroute navaids, but on-airport navaids (like ILS's) are not updated, other than a handful in Europe. I'd also advise that anyone looking to use these updates read the site carefully to understand the tradeoffs involved, as there are some downsides to making the change. Again, I don't say this to minimize the value of Jaime's comment - I use these updates as well - only to clarify them. Scott
April 26, 201412 yr Sportsfan, how did you resolve the lga problem with the NGX? I didn't, when landing there I just manually land the plane.
April 26, 201412 yr An extreme example of this being the good old VHHX approach!Usually, when u look at a plate and it indicates ils rw xx with a letter behind it, it is not an ils that is in sync with the extended center line. (Not always) That approach for Kai Tak wans't ILS. I doubt a letter behind "Ils rw xx" has anything with ILS aliment with extended centerline. If facility is offset that's not ILS anymore, it can be LOC, LDA, IGS approach but not ILS. April 26, 201412 yr I doubt a letter behind "Ils rw xx" has anything with ILS aliment with extended centerline. If facility is offset that's not ILS anymore, it can be LOC, LDA, IGS approach but not ILS. I didn't think im my haste. A letter behind a procedure means that there are multiple approaches of the same kind with different procedures to the same rw. Some ils approaches are offset though. An example would be ils 22r at kjfk or ils 25 enbo an even better one. Wether you doubt it or not, there are many ils apps that do not line up with the rw center line.
April 26, 201412 yr By ICAO PANS OPS, max offset for ILS is 5 degrees. Now, the fact contracting states doesn't like to follow SARPs doesn't help to find out what is the max offset one can find in the world. In theory I can buy an island, proclaim a new country, and say: "At my airport ILS can be up to 100 degrees offset!" April 27, 201412 yr Author I thought with over 3500 posts you might have seen it before :-) Sure Jay, as I said, I have seen and read the info some time ago. I'm just fairly new when it comes to following the correct protocols for ILS landings and so forth. It's only fairly recently that I decided I wanted to take my simming to the 'next level' so I'm learning a lot of stuff I should already have known!  HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776

April 27, 201412 yr To be mutual, I've just started reconsidering manual approaches! What happened to AVSIM
April 27, 201412 yr Author Once you get the basics of t he ILS down they are the easiest approach, in fact they make you lazy :-) Sure, I agree Jay, but in my defence, I always fly a manual landing from about a mile out. April 27, 201412 yr A quick question on topic. IN PMDG NGX, when in APP mode on ILS I cannot change the course knob once the FMC adjusts it. Is there a way to adjust the course in the FMC to adjust the line up issue (I'm not talking about approaches where the path is not directly across the threshold, but rather one in which it should be lined up). thanks rob Rob Marton
