Hi All

 

I just want to make something very clear from my perspective and to clear up some misconceptions of my involvement with ProATCX.  I purchased ProATCX  just like everyone else and saw the potential in this product, hence I 'volunteered' to support the product.  

 

As soon as I have any contact with 'Mourad', who for the record has never contacted me  over the 9 months. I dropped him an e-mail a few days ago, as I needed some information to help with another product, that is when I found out about his 'illness'. So I posted that information.

 

I will continue to support products if I feel they would like my experience and knowledge. I do this because of my passion for the last 25 years for our 'hobby' and I do this like most others for 'free'

 

So, for people to says they will not buy a product that I'm involved in is not very professional and fair to the developer of that product that I decided to support in MY free time.

 

I supported ProATCX in good faith. Some you win some you loss!

Hello Clive, Thank you for your update and your candour. It is unfortunate that the developer of PATC is in ill health and I wish him a speedy recovery.

 

Having said that, it would have been nice for all that has been revealed this weekend, to have been revealed earlier, it would have saved a lot of heartache.

 

Will I punish another developer for this or because you are supporting it? Absolutely not. Will I be a lot more cautious before putting my money down? Absolutely.

 

Great to see that the new ATC product has a demo, great start.

Just for the record, it's also not very professional of you to promise answers to questions (and I quote) "ASAP" and then disappear for a full year to support other products. If you are not going to deliver, then why make promises?

Having gotten that off my chest, I'm glad that you posted the info about the current situation of ProATC. Finally the matter can be but to rest. Kind of sad, that history had to repeat itself.

I have asked in pro atc forums forms for an answer to the question of the developer being ill and not able to continue with development and my post was locked and no answer.

this is a lesson in buyer beware as i have been told active updates are in progress but the developer has been absent for at lest 6 months or more.

this has left a real bad taste in my mouth for the future of this program.

You are lucky sir, one of the mods over there has now in my opinion overstepped his authority. He is now well aware there is a problem, but is locking or deleting any posts questioning this problem and using his admin rights to bad mouth members on locked threads so that they have no way of defending what is said about them. If you start a new thread to respond, then I assume it will just get deleted, because he will not accept any reference to this problem that I am sure everyone is aware of.

Soon after, another forum moderator:

 

"It is time this matter of the update was resolved ... leave it with me so I can get an official response from the developer of what is happening with the proatcx product."

 

So the announcements sections says, that development has stopped, but that is not the "official response"? I have to say that I'm a bit confused.

If you have, please enlighten us. What is it I/we don't get. Please enlighten us. Or are you just poking your nose in to up your post count with your one sentence condescending replies.

Not confusing.....I posted my comment about 15 hours after alpha117 posted what he said yesterday. I have been out of town all weekend and did not see what was going on until I went in to the forum earlier today when I got back to answer support queries.

 

I have not had contact with alpha117 in months as he has not been in the forum for ages.  (february?)....... but I am in contact with the developer almost weekly since september last year . I have no idea what alpha's post was about yesterday and I was not involved in the conversation he had with the developer so I have no ideas what was said.

 

The developer and myself have communicated today and an announcement will be made in the forum hopefully later today to clear the matter up...as I said in my post.

 

please wait until you get an official announcement in the proatcx forum hopefully later today......

Do you think this is the most eagerly awaited announcement for quite some time? Can't wait to see the forum once the announcement has been made.

Then how have you been able to make the following statements:

So rjord hasn't been in contact with alpha117 for 6 months and alpha117 hasn't been able to contact the developer during the same time period, but rjord knows that alpha117 is still supporting ProATC? I'm still confused.

 

Anyhow... Very interested to hear the official announcement, because there are now two different sides to this story. I hope the third side will be the truth.

I'm confused also, as accorded to the mail I received from Mourad, last Wednesday, he has been away in Barcelona on holiday and had just got back, I didn't even get a postcard!!!

 

So have people being in contact with him whilst he has been on holiday? 

 

In fact Mourad has my home telephone number and has never contacted me at all over the last 12 months

 

So, let see what the statement says. 

Major breakdown in communications between developer and interested parties. No wonder there had been confusion and misinformation with many assumptions made.

 

If this situation sorts itself out, which I hope it does, this product will still require the skills and dedication of forum moderators but at least one of you needs to take a step back from day to day forum maintenance and deal sorely with PR, managering peoples expectations and delivering announcements exactly when promised. Who ever takes on such a role had to be confident they can have details of development progress, bug fixes, updates, future features, teasers etc. In light of recent history, who ever does it has a difficult job of regaining the trust of pro atc users, but if us not insurmountable. Certainly, clive's comments got the ball rolling and Roy's response has done allot to calm the situation.

 

Roy, I do hope the developer gives you enough information to enable to answer all the questions that will follow an announcement. Also, no matter what is said, there will still be detractors of the product, even if Mourad announced the update will include a free full scale home cockpit for every user..... Now that's good PR

I didn't state that the dev has stopped development due to illness, a moderator did. I didn't state that i don't know when development will resume, a moderator did. I didn't mention being lied to, a moderator did, so pardon me if I'm upset that somebody lied to me and I am not ashamed of expressing my disgust.

 

How about you? Yes you Roy, are you proud of yourself, hiding behind the safety of admin rights on locked threads to assassinate my character where I cannot defend myself. If anybody should be ashamed, I say it is you sir.
