Can anyone send me the SDK file for FSX?
Simconnect troubleshooting is included in the Active Sky Next user guide. What error are you getting and have you tried the open beta for ASN which has versions for both FSX as well as P3D. I had simconnect issues with Active Sky Next in P3D which have been resolved by the open beta of ASN. I do not believe the FSX SDK is the solution to your problem. Roy

Norton Security apparently hates the PMDG "Operations Center".
If Norton removes the Operstions Centre again, right click the Norton Icon on the right corner on the toolbar bottom of your screen.......select security history and you will find the Operations Centre file was quarantined. Click on that field and there is an option to restore the file as well as prevent norton quarantining the file again. Roy

Installing FSX and FSX:SE Updates

Downloading/Install Issues
You may want to check if your antivirus is effecting the download....... for example yesterday I was rei stalling an addon..... not pmdg in this case...... and the install failed and I found my antivirus had quarantined certain files being installed. If your download is not working perhaps your antivirus is corrupting it. If your download completed but is not installing, your antivirus may be quarantining some of the install files. With the antivirus I am trialing I have to turn it off when installing addons as it keeps disrupting my install of that software. Just remember to turn your antivirus back on when you have finished the install. Roy Click on your username top right corner of this page..... click on settings.... then click on signature on left hand side of the next page and add your name to the signature box. In that way your full name is automatically added every time you add a post here. Roy

Poor Performance P3D 2.5
My system only just barely meets the minimum requirements for the 737 ngx and when I installed it in p3d 2.5 I needed to change the settings to fine tune it to my system. This included going into the performance manager for the ngx and selecting low rather than high textures. I then parked my NGX at the airport which was frame rate intensive, moved all the settings in the scenery screen to the left and then tested the ngx at the fps intensive airport you selected.... YSSY in my case. With the scenery sliders for texture resolution I moved them right...... testing p3d after moving each one. Great detail to ground scenery but blurry ata short distance when flying at 15000 feet. So I then moved the first slider to do with distance of resolution to medium and tested the ngx again. Doing it this way I have managed to get most of the sliders moved right by varying amounts, ground scenery looks great and with active sky next in realistic mode I have a realistic haze at high level which covers the scenery that would have still being blurry medium to long distance. So the only setting I have at the far left is the tesselation factor which is not important to me. my traffic for airlines is 35%..... I have no ga aircraft at all as I dont need them and my clouds are detailed at high distance. I then installed orbix global, orbix vector, utx mesh and after installing each of them tested the ngx. Removed a number of ticked options with vector as I did not need to see traffic lights on the road.... or powerlines. Ifind this is the best way to get the best out of the 737ngx or the 777. Move all sliders left and move each right, test again and then move the next slider. Roy

NGX and P3D v2.5
I completely agree with you......... works very well on my low end machine and I spent a couple of hours fine tuning my settings to get a smooth movement panning around the virtual cockpit. I had to give up FSX a few years ago because FSX with no addons was crashing every flight or every second flight...... it made me almost give up flight simming due to frustration. Moved over to P3D as soon as it became available and have not had one CTD yet....... a huge plus over FSX. My personal opinion is that P3D is leaps and bounds ahead of FSX....... for example flying the 737 NGX in P3D with a smooth panning in the cockpit is something I never achieved in FSX. I started off yesterday with p3d 2.5 re-installed with no addons. After purchasing the p3d version of the NGX, I installed the NGX and gave the virtual cockpit a quick test to see how smooth the panning around the cockpit was. I do not take notice of frames per second as I always average below 10 in the virtual cockpit..... the important thing is not the fps but how smooth the panning is. I saw a need to adjust my settings and moved all the scenery sliders to the left. Then changed my settings to : Level of Detail Radius to High Tesselation Factor Low Mesh resolution 2m possible overkill but looks great Texture Resolution 15cm possible overkill but looks great Scenery Complexity Extremely Dense Autogen Buildings and Vegetation Normal Water Detail Low No reflections ticked Special Effects Detail High Special Effects distance Medium Ran a test and was happy that I had smooth panning. Installed the following addons and tested the NGX after each install to make sure panning in the cockpit was still smooth - active sky next - realism mode in settings - AI Traffic at 35% - Orbx FTX Global - OrbxFTXGlobalVECTOR - FS Global 2010 FTX mesh Normally by this stage FSX would be crawling in the NGX especially with mesh installed. The result was that I had each of these addons installed and running in p3d and still have smooth panning in the cockpit. I was never able to achieve this with FSX let alone have Mesh resolution and texture resolution so far right and scenery complexity at Extremely Dense. Anyone that experiences slow panning in the virtual cockpit needs to look at the sliders in the settings and work out which sliders should be left and which sliders can be right. For example, I have Tessellation all the way to the left as Tessellation adds more polygons to the mesh scenery...... something I don't need at the moment to be anything other than far left. Once I have installed my atc software and tested my settings with full cloud cover then I may look at moving tessellation slightly to the right. Moving over to P3D and not suffering any CTDs was the best move I made..... however at the expense of not flying the NGX. I missed my NGX over the last few years. Today that has changed and a big thank you to PMDG for releasing the NGX and the 777 on the P3D platform. Happy flying everyone Roy ps I do not tweak p3d in any way as I am still not sure of benefits of some of the tweaks. I did upgrade my hardware last year and decided to try out FSX again...... but I got a CTD on my first flight so nothing had changed...... went back to P3D.

FS2Crew works in P3D and SE
With P3D version of the NGX ........FS2crew when installed with the migration tool did warn me that fs2crew would not work until I updated the NGX to the latest service pack. I figured seeing that message that the fs2crew thought i was on the fsx version of p3d and would not work in p3d without an upgrade. Will try a flight like badfinger has and report back in next 2 day when I test fs2crew out thoroughly. Roy

Why all this doom and gloom with 2.+?
Myself I am very happy with Prepar3d version 2.5. Despite my hardware not being that great I am in a great position now where I am flying the PMDG 777 with Orbix FTX Global, Orbix Vector and FS Global 2010 mesh scenery.....with AI supplied by UT2. I have AI traffic for airliners at 100% because busy airports is important to me and with Vector I have all the options ticked except for tertiary roads and I removed the option to see traffic lights with primary roads as I do not need to see traffic lights. With all of this installed and flying something as graphically intensive as the PMDG 777 my flying in prepar3d is enjoyable and pretty smooth. Saying that however this does take some work because you need to put on a Sherlock Holmes hat and work out how to get prepar3d 2.5 working great on your specific system. First thing I do is to work out what addons are important to me......as shown in my list above. It is really important not to burden the flightsim with an abundance of addons as the more you have the more stress you put on the flightsim and the more issues you will see. With my list above this gives me a starting point and I then adjust the settings in the display menu with the pmdg 777 as my active vehicle..... what you will find is that it will take some time to find the right combination of settings to get p3d 2.5 working smoothly for you. Start with the default settings and increase the settings one at a time and with each change go into p3d and see what that one change did. If the change is negative, go back into settings and take out the last change. Doing these changes one at a time will teach you what each of the settings changes will do to p3d and this is important if you want to get a smooth result with p3d. Once you have the settings screens set, take screenshots of the settings so next time you reinstall p3d you can go back to those settings. Weather is the next thing to install so Active Sky Next is installed....... as well as Rex Soft Clouds...... go back into p3d and make sure that p3d is still smooth and not sluggish. In my case absolutely happy. I have Rex Direct 4 and install that but as soon as I apply textures I see my frame rates dive...... do some testing and realize that I can have the great visuals of Rex Direct 4 but with a loss of some smoothness. I make the decision not to install Rex Direct until I upgrade my hardware in a few months time. Install a few other addons and make sure that they don't impact p3d performance and I am done and happy. In summary, it is important to work out the scenery settings, display settings, shadows, how much cloud to have and so on to get the most out of p3d. I find just increasing one setting to the right could impact performance so do each change one at a time and see what the effect is. I do not tweak my system at all..... I use what comes with p3d 2.5 and am happy with that. So in the end I am flying the pmdg 777 with detailed mesh , orbix global scenery and vector and 100% AI and I am happy. I had some issues getting UT2 to work with the changes in p3d 2.5 but got that sorted. When I was using FSX I was finding FSX would crash in the middle of every 2nd or 3rd flight...sometimes every flight. I almost gave up flightsimming because of that. I then moved to P3d when the first version came out and I have not had one crash to desktop in p3d. For that one reason alone I am very happy...... light and shadows in the cockpit add to the realism and enjoyment. Roy

7 Hours with P3D V2 and still Microstutters
What I did wifh my system was to : 1. Install p3d 2.5 and test it before installing any addons. Make sure you are happy before going to next step. 2. Install your most wanted addon.... one only..... and test again to make sure you are happy. 3. Install next wanted addons one at a time and test each addon as you install them. See if there is one addon that is causing your issues. Some things to consider. I have seen recommendations not to have antivirus active while running flight sim. Other recommendations are if antivirus is running to go into its settings and tell it not to scan the p3d folders....exclude prepar3d and its subfolders so the antivirus does not scan your files as you are playing and using them. Check resources used by your antivirus....the one I was using for tthe last year was using more memory than any other application..... have switched to a less memory I tensive antivirus. I had windows 8.1 which slowed down my computer greatly... I went back to 8.0 via a long process requiring refreshing my pc and 12 hours reinstalling all my software. That helped in my case. Make sure you install flight sim and its addons as admin and run them as admin. Install in a folder outside program files folder . If you sill have problems look at windows log files to seev if any issues are being logged. Also look at logs for your addons. Last year p3d went to 1 frame a second on my system and checking my addon logs I discovered that 2 addons I was using that were not p3d compliant at that time were causing simconnect issues which in turn effected a 3rd addon. Try not having any other windows open like Chrome, internet explorer, foldder explorer etc to free up resources.... I have heard it is not good to have too many windows open at any one time .....especially when flyng something like the pmdg 777. I puchased the 777 for p3d within hours of it coming out and because my system is low spec I was sure the 777 would be extremely slow on my machine. I found the 777 worked well in p3d.... a lot smoother than I had been expecting..... and I am still adjusting my sliders to get the balance I want between great visuals and good frame rate in the 777 cockpit. The 777 in p3d performs better than the pmdg 737ngx performed in fsx.

777 won't work under P3D 2.5
I had the same issue where screens were black and nothing worked...... but when I reinstalled a second time it worked for me in 2.5. I think this worked the 2nd time because I had a migration tool running for another addon to work in p3d and the tool was not installed with my first 777 install. Roy

P3d 2.4 to P3d 2.5
I believe that the only time you have to unregister the 777 is if you are changing the operating system on your computer....eq windows 7 to windows 8..... or you are moving to a new machine. In these cases you unregister the 777 to avoid maximum activations issue. upgrading from 2.4 to 2.5 does not require the 777 to be unregistered Roy

P3D
P3D performs better for me than FSX ever did......... before P3D was released FSX was crashing in the middle of every 2nd or 3rd flight and I almost gave up flight simming. I went to P3D when it came out as version 1....... now at version 5...... and I have not had P3D crash once. I tried a flight in FSX a few months ago...... and the flight crashed on the first flight. FSX...... never again. As with FSX you need to adjust the settings in P3D to get the right balance for your hardware...... then you will see that there is more to p3d than just shadows. Roy

Alpha117 yes Mourad was away with his son ..... yes I contacted him while he was away as I had asked him to remove Sierrabravo...imgone..... from the forum when Steve had been spamming the proatcx forum with offensive posts that Shells had to deal with. Imgone asked to be removed from the forum..... I contacted the developer who then removed Imgone. I then contacted the developer again to tell him that the forum had an sql error but it fixed itself and Mourad got back to me saying the forum looked ok. As moderator of the proatcx forum I have never had problems contacting the developer. Even while Mourad was on holiday he still answered my emails. And I have contacted him today and asked him to make a statement in the proatcx forum..... and he has told me he will do that. I am asking people to settle down and wait for Mourad to make his statement because I still have no idea what the problem is and I come into svsim and see peopke bad mouthing me. Rick.... I responded to you because your post resulted in Shells walking away in disgust in a topic you aimed directly at him. We also lost Torsten who has helped answer questions in the forum.....as a member of support thst is ehy I responded to you. Roy And as I speak..... both alpha117 and Mourad are in the proatcx forum and Mourad has made his announcement. Roy

Jarkko Not confusing.....I posted my comment about 15 hours after alpha117 posted what he said yesterday. I have been out of town all weekend and did not see what was going on until I went in to the forum earlier today when I got back to answer support queries. I have not had contact with alpha117 in months as he has not been in the forum for ages. (february?)....... but I am in contact with the developer almost weekly since september last year . I have no idea what alpha's post was about yesterday and I was not involved in the conversation he had with the developer so I have no ideas what was said. The developer and myself have communicated today and an announcement will be made in the forum hopefully later today to clear the matter up...as I said in my post. please wait until you get an official announcement in the proatcx forum hopefully later today...... advices before buying the PRO ATC !
As a member of support for proatcx I would just like to state that proatcx certainly does support its customers and either Dom or myself are answering support questions every day around the clock. so if you ask for advice in the proatcx forum you will certainly get the advice. with pbar stating that posts are deleted or locked, as a moderator I will do that only when the content of the post is disrespectful towards others in the forum , including towards the developer or myself, or when forum rules are broken. Yes the update has been a long time coming and no doubt has been a talking pointin the proatcx forum as well as in this forum. This is a major update and you will like it....... and I am asking you to wait for us to finish testing it at which stage it will be released. Roy

A quick fly by of Pro ATC
I am the moderator of proatcx and posts were removed because they were hijacking a support thread which is not allowed in the forum. I had stated that as the reason why posts were removed and yet people kept on hijacking threads...so more posts were removed. Posts are also removed when members disrespect the moderators, the developer, other members or the product. I have veing asked many times why i was letting flamers get away with it in the forum. and for people who keep on complaining about the product...... how about asking a support question and you may find the product actually works well for you. If you do not ask for support...support cannot help you. Roy you were banned because of what you said.......,....... you broke forum rules and i have given warnings before banning people you were banned because of what you said.......,....... you broke forum rules and i have given warnings before banning people
