You are hearing ATC, you heard ground giving you a radio check and telling you that your volume was weak.

Some questions

What sound card are you using and which headset from Turtle beach from this lot:

http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/headsets/pc

In Widows Control panel > Sound, what is your default speaker device set to.

What colour socket is your headset plugged into or is it USB ?

Where have you installed PFE ?

Are you running PFE as administrator ?

You need to carefully go over your settings within PFE.

Who is doing the flying, you or your PO?

Is your PO just handling the coms?

Are you at the right holding point? (it has to be at the far end of the rwy)

In any case if you are at any holding point and nothing happens in order to get clearance to line-up or take-off you press 6 not 0 presuming of course you did change to the correct radio frequency!!!!

If your PFE seems a little slow to respond change the priority to above normal from within your task manager.

Once again you are trying to run before you can walk. The programme 'does' work and it works well. Yes, there are a few idiosyncrasies but they are minor and not related to programme function.

Your sound problems are nothing to do with PFE. Check your sound set-up on your pc and within your sim and make sure there are no conflicts. Check your volume settings on your pc, in your sim and within PFE.

Yes, PFE has a steep learning curve but you haven't wasted you money. Of the available programmes it's the best in my opinion.

ok its working with the tower etc :) set a sid up aswell this programme is coool.

but still no sound can hear them talking to the ai something is missing here.

when i was on  the ground and on the ground freq i tried to ask for a radio check but didn't work also altimeter

Actually you may need to turn taxi guidance off first by pressing 1, then when you get confirmation taxi guidance mode has ended then you can press 6 to tell the tower controller you are ready for take off, if you are at a towered field of course. You should also print out the keyboard shortcut page so you can see what the keys all do. The other option is to use the included app called PFE Displayer which is a little app you can run along side PFE which will show you what keys you can press depending on the phase of flight you are in and what frequency you are tuned to.

To me it sounds like the OP hasn't flown the tutorial enough times. Once you get the process worked out you really cannot beat PFE, I've tried all the different ATC packages (I dodged the Pro ATC X bullet thankfully and didn't bother with it) and I find PFE to be the most the most immersive of them all. You would do better trying to get support at the official forums too, you will get better help there than you will here in a thread that is titled for a completely different product.

EDIT: please go to the official support forums and ask for help, you sound like you may have a corrupted install or some other new problem. The only place to sort this is at the support forum, there is a link to it below.

We still all have a mix of good and bad for each addon. If only they could come together as one.

I cant stand the robotic sounds. Really kills the effect.

Pro ATC as far as im concerned was easier to use with a few more bells and whistles. Problem is there was too many core functionalities that were not working right. The logic of how it was handled just did not make sense. Alot of it worked well, but the flaws that were there ruined it for me for the time being anyhow.

Im sure its crazy hard to send out instructions to a computer program which interprets as a very rigid set of rules whereas the real world controllers deal with at the moment dynamic situational decisions.

I really hope that ProATC comes around with that update and its not fake, because the program actually has a lot of potential. Too bad theyve seemed to have given up being that there is barely any communication or screenshots of progress.

The real problem was that it does not follow anything like real ATC procedures and terminoligy, and that makes it basically worthless, besides that it is bug ridden and is not likely to be fixed any time soon. because the programmer has done a runner, as he had done in the past.

May I add my observations of Pro-ATCX having experienced it at a flight sim meeting last weekend.

On a flight from EGCC (Manchester) to EGLL (Heathrow) we were initially cleared to a flight level of 55. That's not a good start. Real world ATC would never clear to such a flight level.

Later we were cleared to FL160. I asked the chap flying it to level off at FL140. Knowing that Radar Contact would very soon admonish me for not maintaining my climb I was surprised to hear no such admonishment from the Pro-ATCX controller. That surprised me. Something as basic as that should be expected.

We were unable to complete the flight as the computer was running out of VAS. But I'd seen (and heard) enough. I'd expect problems like that on a beta version, not a release one. Disappointing.

Ray, the sad thing is that if you posted this review on the PATC forum, there would be a swift and aggressive rebuttal, followed by threats of post deletion or thread locking. This from an individual who is not even the dev. Heavens know's where the heck he is.

Most unfortunate situation.

It would be most unfortunate if that were to happen. Do any beta testers comment on that forum? Are there any beta testers?

For something as complicated as an ATC program they're absolutely essential. We tested RC4 for months and found lots of things that needed fixing. But the main thing is that when RC4 was released it worked. People need Pro-ATCX to work and deserve support. If anyone has it and could try my test and report their findings on that forum the response would be most interesting.
