What Is Going On With Slow Connections?

Featured Replies

What is going on of late at Avsim's webpages? First, in the mornings, I had repeated '503 Errors Service Unavailable' error flags. Now it is happening late evening. Pages are taking an eternity to load, or that same 503 Error Service Unavailable crops up repeated when trying to look at topics. And before anybody suggests it, I have repeatedly cleared my Firefox cache too, so it cannot be that when I can easily load webpages all over the Internet.

Hopefully, somebody will have an answer.

I'm getting the same issue as you this evening (2100 GMT) but I've had this issue for months  in the mornings (around 0830-0900 GMT). The conclusion of lengthy discussions elsewhere on Avsim has been that it's nothing to do with anything under Avsim's control, and it seems to mainly affect users in Europe.

EDIT: I notice the recent topics thing from the top of the forum has disappeared too

Same for me... AVSIM has been quite slow for quite a while - at least for me...

Just 317 members have logged on in the last 15 minutes yet the response times are dreadful. I can't help but feel there is something very wrong with the servers.

Frustrating doesn't come close.

PMDG released the an update regarding SP1 for the T7, maybe that caused it.

Same here, extremely slow load times for me as well, like it was just before the crash a few months ago.

Same here, a single page refresh (F5) is taking 23-27 seconds to refresh,  that is if  I’m lucky enough not to get a Service Unavailable message.

Interesting thing is that about half an hour ago I was able to access without logging in first. (First time in months)
and pages were refreshing quite fast. Perhaps there is some gremlin in the user-session/session state validation.

EDIT: Something just changed as refreshing this page to see other 2 new replies before posting took only 2-3 seconds.

Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

You need to read things a bit closer Ray. That's 5 minutes, not 15...

As for the 403's this afternoon we shut the system down for a while and did some changes to try to load balance a bit. We were getting slammed by those appearing to read the news regarding MS' sale of its FS Franchise.

Very slow here.

Yep ..... I have noticed a gradual slow down over the past 48 hours or so. Averaging over 22 seconds per page so it's back to dial up speeds for me, but that in itself is an opportunity. Time for me to grab my son and show him what the internet was continually like for all of us many years ago. He might start to appreciate that his "always on, fast internet" is something to be thankful about !!
