MS Flight continues... new rumours

Recommended Posts

MS FLIGHT is simply ahead of any other civil flight simulator available in the market today, and that includes FSX, X-Plane 10, Aerofly FS.

Those who have had the chance to use it for an extended period, and not just a couple of hours, should know what I am talking about.

I was forced to diverge, but after a couple of years gave up, and the closest I could find to the pleasure of using MS FLIGHT I could only find in 3 combat flight simulators - DCS World, IL2 BoS and Rise of Flight.

Strange?

Yes, I find it strange too, but what can I say other the the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?

So... If the announcement is really regarding MS FLIGHT I can only feel very VERY HAPPY!

Main Simulation Rig:

Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, 1 TB & 500 GB M.2 nvme drives, Win11.

Glider pilot since 1980...

Avid simmer since 1992...

However, your report does seem to contradict simFlight's:

simFlight: "This entity, which we are not yet at freedom to divulge, is no stranger to the simulation market."

I don't see the word "flight" in the simFlight quote.

I confess, it was me, I bought it ... finishing up the code right now, 64bit and will require minimum 64GB RAM (prefer 128GB or more DDR4) and three nVidia Quadro K6000 graphics cards, 18TB of hard drive space (if you want 3mm global resolution) ... aiming at min CPU spec to be a Haswell-E due out later this year, preferred spec is 32 logical cores @ 6Ghz.

There will be two versions, one for free but will include advertisements and every 10 minutes you will have to complete a survey or purchase something before flight will proceed.

The professional version will cost $3500 per physical CPU but has no advertisements or surveys during flight ... there maybe be some ads at startup and prior to takeoff, but never during flight.

All add-ons for the product will be certified and only available at the "Rob Store" and 3rd party vendor costs for this service will be 50% of sales.

If you follow the minimum specs I will guarantee the product will "just work" (for 15 minutes) or your money back ... all you have to do is fly.

The product will have silent anti-piracy -- you will not know it's there -- no special keys to enter as it's all self-inclusive.  There will be a channel setup call Rob's Pirate TV that will keyboard trace and screen capture any attempted hacks (and if you have a web cam that will record your activity) which will stream on live Rob Pirate TV channel ... which can then be streamed back to other legal customers 3D panel which can be activated as an hourly charge option OR to any 3rd party add-on that supports the Rob Pirate TV stream.

The product will run on any platform that supports native 64bit applications.  There will be no messy EULA, everyone and anyone is welcome and my qualification system is relatively painless for those over 50.

The product will come with B-Sync electrodes that you can directly attach to your Hypothalamus as to ensure a stutter free experience.  And with the Pro Deluxe edition (limited time only) you get the "deep thought package" that gives you complete control over all buttons, dials, switches without having to physically move anything.

The product will be delivered in 3 formats:

1.  Online 17.5 TB download (high speed connection recommended)

2.  98 Dual layer BD's

3.  Carrier pigeon with source code you can type in and compile (the hardcore simmer) yourself (some restrictions apply)

Support will be provided via our hot-line at 555-867-5309  (Jenny is our leading support specialist and can resolve any rare issues).

Product goes on sales tomorrow so check my web site every 15 seconds to be the first!

Enjoy Rob.

Are you speculating someone among the likes of SCS Software or Dovetail Games?

I could make a million bucks selling those electrodes.

Interested in franchising?

Will that stop my stuttering or the app's? BTW, good job. Your post has more humor and as much credibility as all the rest on this topic.

I can't give away too many details as it's a proprietary technology ... but basically if the app runs slower then the B-sync process will slow your body clock down and you will actually age less over the duration of usage.  However, if you are more of a twitcher type that needs 60 or 120 fps then you could actually age faster during use ... there are warning labels attached to the B-sync probes but in case of death one is welcome to sue me.

You have WAAAAYYYYYY too much free time on your hands.

Or simply taking a break from some god awful 3rd party product that I'm integrating into my application that is literally driving me insane with meaningless error messages for those that can levitate ... and when that happens to me out "it" comes, I must look away and "express" myself as a release .... aaaaah

I feel better anyway :)

I just want to get the story straight for once before we rush to take it as gospel and spend countless pages talking about it.

Given your active participation on threads speculating about this, and your pleas to people not to forget that it was you who first speculated Flight was being ported to Xbox One, I would be pressing buttons like 'funny' and 'dislike' if such a function existed on these forums.

Yea I know, the old system was great.  You make a stupid comment you knew right away although I stand by what I said.  If FLIGHT was the only thing purchased in this agreement why develop it for a dead platform (the PC)?  As a new developer you'd want to get the best bang for the buck by reaching the most people.  From the looks of it in the entertainment world that would be the XBOX ONE or the PS4.  Seeing as this is a MS product optimized for a Windows based system XBOX would be the logical choice (heck, FLIGHTS front end interface is already optimized for a platform like XBOX).  If Tom is right about the whole franchise being offloaded then all bets are on the table but I can't see FLIGHT coming back to the PC from a new development house with bright forward thinking ideas.  If that was the case they would have taken a page from LM and been all over this community fishing for ideas.

I agree with one poster that FLIGHT on the XBOX will bring in a lot of new blood which is what this community needs.  Flight Simming is like drugs, you start off with the light stuff but end up using the hard stuff.  After that your too far gone in the ecstasy of PMDG, Aerosoft, and FSDT...

Please make up your mind which sim you're backing and stick with it.  I agree with a previous poster that you seem to jump on anyone's bandwagon touting anything on a whim.

Still love FS9

Can use FSX-size textures in FS9 (modified: shaken, not stirred ......well ...you know what I mean)

Gone to Prepar3D

Flight is might movement

The only thing you seem to have given up on is FSX.  Oh well, at least it keeps your post count high ......sigh ......

For clarity's sake it's like this:

Still Love FS9 - Still use it allot (every major international airport is covered in this sim plus it's easy to use and setup)

P3D is the future for the legacy version of FS - Have it installed and love it although I still need to get a better computer at least I can use FSX add-ons with a sim looking better than what I can achieve with FS9 these days. Lower settings still look amazing in P3D v2.

X-Plane - I would convert to this platform and do away with Windows altogether (for various reasons) as this sim will run in Linux.  It can look amazing these days but weather, ATC, and AI isn't fully realized

Flight - I have this installed still and feel it has one of the best flight models of any sim we have.  It looks amazing and runs well.  For pattern work on short fields in Alaska it's great.  I wish they gave it more of a chance.

FSX - Well, you know...  It took too long for this sim to become usable for most.  I know some have forgotten it's growing pains.

All the sims have their pluses for the most part but as tricked out as I have FS9 there's no reason to give it up.  I can understand this with FSX users.  P3D is the future in my book as it's as trouble free as FS9 was this far into it's release.  It looks better than FSX and can run much of it's add-ons.  As far as a revamped FLIGHT I would not purchase it for XBOX (if that ends up being the case) but I can see where it would bring in new simmers to our hobby.  That's not jumping to it's side that's being realistic.  We should embrace that aspect if nothing else.
