FSX Fiber Accelerator v1.2

Featured Replies

On the other hand during tests we discovered how changes can be done real time without touching any FSX file. That was the major breakthrough... The rest is known history ;)

So is this one of the things going on in FA now, or are you saying this is something you guys are working on?  Just curious.

Changing the way graphics are delivered, in real time , without touching any FSX file , is the whole concept of Fiber Accelerator.

And they say I 'm lazy into reading whole threads , lol  :lol:

I'd like to have some more control over which things FA changes.. for example.. things that are far away are not so important than things very close. I use DX10 and I'm enjoying cockpit shadows for a while now. But FA turns all that off. In DX10 those shadows take away maybe 1 FPS so I don't think it effects performance that much.

My sim runs just fine most of the time.It would be nice to have some extra power in heavy areas or when flying heavies but I'm not prepared to sacrifice visuals willy-nilly just to gain ~3 FPS.

I bought the product, realized all that and stopped using it.

Fiber Accelerator never takes away aircraft or cockpit shadows. Multiple tested , and tested 10 minutes ago for you, just to be sure.

This can be confirmed by all DX10 users who also use Fiber.

So you realized wrong.. Please check again aircraft shadows at the relative part of your FSX display settings. (Aircraft cast shadows on itself etc)

It's been a while since I tested FA (still haven't made up my mind) but I can confirm I had no problem at all with cockpit shadows. I've been running DX10+Steve's Fixer for some months now.

@0Artur0 - are you using the Fixer - or Steve's freeware shaders? Do the shadows reappear (for the same aircraft) when you restart FSX without FA? Excuse me if you already know this, but not all aircraft have cockpit shadows. Steve's Fixer can enable many of them , but not all.

Although it is not directly a FA but rather a FSUIPC problem, I want to put the question here, because users of FA might find the answer useful, too...

If I run FSX, I want FSUIPC to load Fiber Accelerator automatically as well.

This is what I put in the FSUIPC4.INI:

[Programs]

RunIf1=KILL,C:\FSX\Modules\linda.exe

RunIf2=KILL,C:\FSX\FSX Fiber Accelerator\FSX Fiber Accelerator.exe

It works for LINDA but FA does not start at all.

Any advice?

Thanks!

cheers,
NiIs U.

The path contains spaces so it needs quotes. Try...

RunIf2=KILL,"C:\FSX\FSX Fiber Accelerator\FSX Fiber Accelerator.exe"

Thanks Ray,

there is at least something happening now. I get a popup saying "Flight Simulator is already running". Maybe a problem with sequencing during startup? I have to run FA manually for the time beeing.

cheers,

Nils,

Try CLOSE instead of KILL. Check the path is correct.

This is my entry...

Run6=CLOSE,"C:\Program Files (x86)\FSPS\FSX Fiber Accelerator\FSX Fiber Accelerator.exe"

That's strange. Yes, I use Steve's DX10 fixer. My apologies if I made a mistake. I'll test again.

Who knows how to disable FA1.2 launching in the background when you don't want it for certain flights? You can't do it in dll.xml anymore.

Thanks,

Dirk.

Thanks,

Use the key combo (CTRL+Shift+F12) to cycle through the 3 states until you see Fiber disabled in the green bar at the top of the screen.

If you used AlacrityPC you could create two FSX profiles - one with it enabled and another disabled. AlacrityPC is free.

Dirk,

How are you running it now? Via FSUIPC.INI?

If that's the case then you need an alternative way of launching so you have a choice. That's why I mentioned AlacrityPC. It will automatically launch programs you specify. Download it here http://sourceforge.net/projects/alacritypc/

Then create two profiles. One with FA included and one without. That's the best way if you don't want to do it manually. Remember to remove it from FSUIPC.INI of course.

Does fiber affect my cloud coverage density? I noticed flying into an ovc area there were hardly any clouds, i opened up my settings and noticed my cloud coverage density was set to 0. If this is true can we have an option for this not to happen. weather realism is top on my list.
