Does fiber affect my cloud coverage density?

No. The developers have stated on more than one occasion no settings like this are changed.

Does fiber affect my cloud coverage density? I noticed flying into an ovc area there were hardly any clouds, i opened up my settings and noticed my cloud coverage density was set to 0. If this is true can we have an option for this not to happen. weather realism is top on my list.

FSX FA does not change the density of clouds.

Nor does it influence AI traffic, car/boat traffic, autogen either.

 Blindness is a programmer's worst enemy. Neither in the team nor the beta testers, noticed that. Thanks for the tip

Babis, someone didn't notice this either in your tag:

So before I even try to install the demo, can someone tell me if merely killing the .exe for this program is sufficient to return FSX to where it was before ever using it? If this only alters FSX files that are loaded and running in memory, does this mean its not actually changing any settings in cfgs and the like?

Just wondering becuase I don't want to have to reinstall everything to get what I have now if I find I don't like the product.

@carmined .. Thanks. The text can be shown bigger with Ctrl + mouse wheel , isn't it ?  :P

Dirk,

How are you running it now? Via FSUIPC.INI?

Ok, Ray, I've deciphered your cryptic answer to my enigmatic question, lol: just go to your FSUIPC4.ini and comment out RunIf*="*\FSX Fiber Accelerator.exe" line under [Programs] section.

Easy!

Much thanks,

Dirk.

Just what you wrote above. This has been mentioned frequently in this and other threads about the product.

Yes but people's incessant speculation leads to all kinds of false wisdom about the product.

In any case I took the plunge and tried the demo. Mixed results. In my heaviest scenery I got a definite improvement on approach though it all seemed to disappear within a few seconds of touch down as I got closer to the actual scenery itself. My normal average is like 10-15 and I could get a solid 16-18 on approach. it dipped back to the unaltered average of about 12-13 so right up close it doesn't improve much unless I'm stationary at the gate with an unmoving view that lets it do its tweaks.

In scenery areas which are less extreme but still nice frame wise (16-25 average on the ground up to 30 in the air) I found that it did not improve my frames and instead created jumpiness and lower overall frames.

It seems like this tool for me would only work when approaching the worst case scenario airports. Of course there might be other ways to test it but I can't be sure given demo limitations. For the stiff price its hard to jump on it given the possible limited use (approach to a handful of airfields) and the fact that I can't reconcile the apparent frame issues in some areas given demo limitations.

Doubt I'll buy it. Price plus doubt = hesitation.

Probably you have a "super machine" that is capable to handle the FSX bottleneck programming to almost 100%. But after all FA is able to deliver you smooth approaches on "hard" airport scenarios,

For me, having a relatively weak machine , FA really does a great job, anytime, anywhere. And this is not "false wisdom", it is practice.

Well actually you're completely wrong. I have an extremely weak system. I don't own anything like ORBX because I can't handle it. What I do use is some airport scenery and I don't have much because of my machine. More modest airport scenery works well enough. With the extreme airport scenery and then with a more modest airport scenery with a highly demanding third party aircraft VC I had the above mentioned results. In most situations it seems like an unlocked frame rate is at least equivalent or even better than the locked frame rate result I get from this product. Only approaching dense extreme scenery do I see an improvement.

As I said, only limited ability to test it but my testing so far hasn't shown the overall "anytime, anywhere" result doesn't show on my machine, a machine that is basically at the bottom of the barrel and if it were any worse I wouldn't even be able to use what I do now.

so far hasn't shown the overall "anytime, anywhere" result

I see. The misunderstanding is on my side. I thought you would have a big machine and you would only notice slight improvements on complex scenario approaches...

The more I am surprised that you don't see too much improvement for your FSX experience.

I notice FA's improvements "anytime" especially when I am in heavy weather (clouds and rain) during dusk/dawn and that "anywhere" e.g. in the EGLL area...

I tried hundreds of tweaks, combinations etc. Every "final" tweak had its downside. I never could get rid of this "100% probability" periodic stutters in the end, which FA reduced by 99% at once.

I was even able to turn on my "night lighting" inside UTX+GEX EU/US under the worst conditions which would have been an absolute "no go" without FA...

For me FA is very much worth the price as it gives me the time to do what I actually want to do:

fly those terrific addon A/Cs either in demanding situations or just on sunny days.

Have a nice trip B)

Well if your definition of "anywhere" is an extremely dense urban scenery area then I don't think we define it the same.

I tend to fly based on Vatsim as much as anything. So if I see a controller in some place I might fly there and it could be a much less congested bit of scenery. I don't fly into and out of the same spot over and over again and I don't think most scenery is as demanding as your typical extreme EGLL. So yes I noticed in my equivalent to super dense and demanding scenery that I got an improvement. If I fly somewhere that is not nearly as demanding as an EGLL type of scenery it gave me a reduction in FPS and smoothness.

For me it seems to be very situational as a tool. It would be one thing if I got identical performance in most areas and significant improvements in the worst, but if everytime I fly I need to be ready to flip on the utility, open the options menu to lock my frame rate, then do the reverse depending on where I'm flying its rather intrusive to my experience and again not relevant to most of my time flying.

Like I said though, maybe I could make it work better if I had more time to experiment but the demo is limiting. It doesn't seem to offer improvement in areas where I'm not suffering frame issues that drive me below 16-20 FPS and instead detracts from my performance.

That's why the "middle target" or "FA deactivated" buttons are there...

Just press the "FA deactivated" and FSX will return to default and you will get the higher frames you claim...

If you like you can use the middle frames to something around 30. If you get 16-20 fps it means that the actiive target set frames in fiber is around 20-25 ...

Everything is a matter of setting correctly 3 numbers... FSX target frame, Lower frame, and Middle Frame.

Don't expect the application make it for yourself. You need to work with it a bit.

PS. To all:

We are in our summer vocations (personally in Crete) and our response times will be slower than usual, a matter of Mobile internet availability actually. We continue our work on Fiber Accelerator (even on laptops) and version 1.3.

For those who don't know a lot about us, FSPS applications almost never stop to evolve..

We also believe that from September we will have some more wonderful news for all FS community, including Prepar3D users...

Keep in touch :)

Well for one its hard to "work with it" given the limited demo so if users don't do it right at first it doesn't prove anything.

Secondly I tried the middle frame limit and it gave me lower frames than the lower limit and when I tried to bump up my FSX max frames it didn't do anything. Whats more switching the utility off didn't fix my frames to what I had before because unlocking the frame rate is what gives the frame rate boost. In order to do this I need to open options and reset the frame rate limit. I can have the frame rate set to unlimited and then switch on the utility because it will reset the upper limit to what it was at before but switching it off doesn't actually appear to reset my frame limit to unlimited.

Maybe I could make it function slightly better but overall my experience is that my tweaked settings and unlocked frame limit create a better FPS experience everywhere except approaching and landing at complex scenery airports. Is that worth the price? I'm not sure, maybe if I owned hundreds of dollars worth of add on scenery that wouldn't work well without it. Further experimentation would require I buy it so we'll see if that happens.

Well I cannot debate each time a user reports something impossible...

Just read carefully this post (after "A (multiple written before) note I will have to make:" )
