August 29, 201411 yr Is ist heavy on fps? Yes, it does take its toll on fps. I'm getting the following: Default C172: 34 fps Grumman Traveler: 32 fps Arrow III: 19 fps That's while sitting on the runway with all systems running, from the VC. Keep in mind that this is with near-max settings, Osm2XP, HD Mesh and photoscenery on middle-of-the-road hardware. With more reasonable settings the frame rate would likely be much better. I've found the flight to be very smooth regardless of the framerate. Edit: My numbers for the C172 were a bit off. Corrected.
August 29, 201411 yr Thanks for the detailed fps comparism. With different hardware and settings I assume that it should give me at least half the fps of the default 172.
August 29, 201411 yr Author Thinking of getting this, but there are two more upcoming releases I have to debate on.
August 29, 201411 yr Looks like a lovely plane. Sounds appear to be the default sounds.. That is a bit disapointing. Can they get somebody that knows a little about the plane to review it. Hopefully somebody with some time behind the yoke. August 30, 201411 yr I was really excited until I watched that review video and watched the frames tank once he went into the cockpit. I guess I'll wait for some more reviews. Joseph Catino
August 30, 201411 yr I was really excited until I watched that review video and watched the frames tank once he went into the cockpit. I guess I'll wait for some more reviews. Well I didn't really observe such dramatic results in my setup. If you first enter the cockpit things were a bit slow, but after a few seconds everything recovered so I didn't even turn the frames display on. Karsten Schubert
August 30, 201411 yr I did a couple more flights with the Arrow and I have to say that the framerate is a concern. Even with other highly detailed aircraft such as the Dreamfoil Bell 407 I get nearly twice the fps when compared with the Arrow - and depending on one's hardware and settings, the fps hit may be too much to get a smooth experience. For the time being, I'd say wait for an update...
September 1, 201411 yr Seems there's a bit of controversy with this product at "The Org." Product is No longer for sale here..... http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=79464 100%75%50%d8a34be0e82d98b5a45ff4336cd0dddc Patrick
September 1, 201411 yr Author Wow, that is some controversy for a payware maker. Not sure how valid the claims are as this is their third payware release to my knowledge.
September 1, 201411 yr Not sure how valid the claims are as this is their third payware release to my knowledge. It seems to be valid Parts of the acf scripts and some lua files are obviously copies and vFlyteAir shut down their website with: Our apologies! It has come to our attention that some of our products may contain features that are proprietary to another company. We are working to resolve the issue. Totally unnecessary... Karsten Schubert
September 1, 201411 yr Thanks Longranger for the info. Too bad, I really wanted to buy it, even if it's a bit "heavy" for fps. Pascal
