Does Nvidia Inspector work at all with P3Dv2.3

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have been playing around with settings in P3Dv2.3 and trying to get NI to work but no matter what I do it does not seem to do anything to improve the quality so I always go back to the internal P3D settings as they always seem to look the best and give the best performance, I did try the Prepar3D driver profile, just curious as I have seen some claims that it can look better with NI configured,  cheers

Hi Wayne,

NI does not work with P3D at this time, fingers crossed that NV comes out with a profile to support it.

All the best

"NI does not work with P3D at this time, fingers crossed that NV comes out with a profile to support it."

Wondering how you know that?

Prepar3D is in the Nvidia inspector's  Profile list.

It does not indicate a specific version of P3D so I assume it is all versions.

So, how do we ever know for sure what is working properly in the profile settings?

And, what are the best settings for P3D V2.3?

It certainly works: I can get PERFECT AA using Inspector, however it KILLS performance so as most P3D users I don't use NI at all.

Are the current drivers the best? Or an older version?

The current nVidia driver has still the problem with tessellation in P3D v2 (blue triangles). It's recommended to use the 337.88 driver. The next coming driver has this problem fixed.

Are the default values in the inspectors P3D profile loaded and used when we start P3D V2.3 (or any P3D version)?

I have seen some pretty big performance hits when I turn SGSS on and the sky is overcast. Disabling SGSS in NI allows me to fly smoothly again, so clearly NI does function in P3D 2.3.

P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.

SGSS aa and the frame limiter are the only things that work from my testing.

All other items need to be supported / enabled by nvidia as dx11 titles have to be flagged correctly.

I'm waiting for the 1/2 refresh rate vsync option to work, hopefully soon!

Yes. Because those default values are in fact the default nVidia control panel values. Inspector is nothing but an interface to those standard default nVidia profiles, giving you some advanced options that the standard CP is lacking. Resetting the P3D profile in Inspector is the exact same as resetting it in the nVidia control panel. If you delete the entire P3D profile, P3D will still use the default global nVidia settings because it simply can not use NO settings at all. If you know what I mean.

It is easy for me to mis-understand which selections are actually being used by P3D (or any other program).

Here is a screenshot showing the NVidia control panel settings and the default NI settings for P3D.

For AA gamma correction as an example, when I start P3D V2.3 which setting is being used?

NI default = OFF or NV control panel = ON ??

SGSS does work for me, however the FRL does not.
