'Must-Have' Add Ons

Featured Replies

I run pretty much the 'out of the box' FSX Gold/Acceleration pack using the Saitek yoke and throttle control or the Logitech 3D Pro stick. I plan to buy the pedals eventually.

I have also downloaded the BA 747 and that's about it.

So what are the 'must have' software add-ons?

Looking to spice up the cockpits a bit and possibly improve ATC from the MS version.

I'm fine with the scenery and can update specific airports as necessary.

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, but couldn't see anything recent.

Thanks

You want to get REX 4 for better looking sky and clouds, Orbx Global for better ground textures and possibly vector if you want better coast lines and roads. Get Steave's DX10 fixer and switch to DX10. As for airports flytampa Dubai and Kai Tak are awesome. Anything by fsdreamteam is great, flight beam scenerys are also great. Consider getting some pay ware planes. Anything PMDG is great. And the Lionheart Lear 24 is my new favorite.

+1 on these.

I also recommend ASN (Active Sky Next) for actual weather generation, RC4 (Radar Contact 4) for ATC, and although there is a freeware version available, I recommend purchasing a license for FSUIPC (to support the author - IMHO this one utility has done more to improve FSX than any other single product).

If you get MyTraffic X then grab Traffic Optimizer - a freeware utility available here on AvSim. Helps frame rates at large airports. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/451383-traffic-optimizer-for-fsxp3d/

And if you want to fly faster and higher than anyone else how about FS Labs' ConcordeX. They're knocking 10 Euros off the price right now. http://www.flightsimlabs.com/aircraft/concorde-x/

Choose addon's that are P3DV2 compatible too! You'll want to switch to that sooner or later and you won't want to be stuck with addon's that support FSX only at that point!
