May 4, 200521 yr Has anyone had a midair collision at cruise altitude with an AI aircraft??? I have yet to have this happen. With all the complaints we have about AI, I wonder what's the statistics of collisions with AI at high altitude within the confines of FS9. Since they've happened in the real world on a number of occasions, how do we measure up (not trying to be morbid but more so just wondering has anyone had one. AI has come darn close to my aircraft but no cigar)??? :-) FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
May 4, 200521 yr nopebut i had a close one coming into DENVER a few nights back, i was doing the downwind for 19R and i got an advisory from my PMDG 737 TCAS "Traffic Traffic" and split second after i got KDEN Approach tell me to make a right turn!ha it was awesome! I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
May 4, 200521 yr I had one taking off out of PANC. I was at about 10,000 feet and watching my instruments and saw what I thought was a shadow then bang. I couldn't see the other aircraft in replay because the AI don't show up, but the "evidence" was there, hehe. It sure shocked me. billg
May 4, 200521 yr I neally crashed into another plane in gatwick last week. Was turning final with the lds767 when another plane 737-700 decided to go infront of me. tcas shouting DECEND DECEND then a/p disconnected putting the a/c in a steep decent. Brent Lewis
May 4, 200521 yr I've never collided in mid-air, thanks to Eric Marciano's AI Radar! :) I vector my plane around other traffic!I collided with an MD-80 on the ground @ KORD. I stopped, but the AI plane taxied into me! :-eek Quote from MS Flight Team Lead: "We’ve made some guesses"
May 4, 200521 yr I've only had 2 midairs, both with invisible scenery.Few years ago I had a scenery colission over the Bahamas at FL330, last week over Newfoundland at FL580.
May 4, 200521 yr I once had a mid air over ORF (Norfolk) at 330. I must admit i saw it coming but could not resist seeing if we would hit...We did.I nearly also had a real one, although the airline in question denied it. We were on our way back from SFB (Sanford) just over SAV (Savannah), i was looking out of the window getting ready to get some sleep when i felt the plane dip then a rumble, i looked out of the window and saw the contrail of an AA 767 literally no more than 50ft above us heading the opposite way.On arriving back home i called the airline and enquired whether there had been a reported near miss, the answer "NO and it is highly unlikely that i witnessed one as with the use of TCAS it is nearly immpossible for it to happen"I guess i will never know for sure but it was close.
May 4, 200521 yr Yes - "in" a Project Fokker F100, at cruising altitude, hit by a ERJ of some description from behind my left shoulder.Got the usual traffic warning from ATC, looked rear left just in time to glimpse it before a big bang. Now have the PMDG 737 and Flight1 ATR72, both of which have TCAS, although that isn't the reason I bought them!
May 4, 200521 yr Yep. Using the PMDG 737-700 at FL330. Had a 757 slam into the starboard side. Now I use the TCAS that comes with Ultimate Traffic. ATC always reports the traffic after it is too late. Also I tend to keep my "head" (that is, my finger on the view hatswitch) on a swivel as I've found the TCAS can sometimes distort how far away some those ai really are. Mike
May 4, 200521 yr the PMDG 737 has a fully functional TCAS built in, you just need to follow the procedures to turn it on.
May 4, 200521 yr Once on a flight from Salt Lake to Portland, OR. Was climbing through 9000 in a Kingair. A Jet went by so fast, coming from under me, across my flight path, to above me. It went by so fast that I couldnt tell what airline or aircraft it was. By the time I thought to take a look from outside, it had disappeared. Must have been no more than about 100-150 ft in front of me, startled me like nothing had before in the FS...Bob
May 4, 200521 yr Just a week or two ago, I was flying the MAAM B-25 below 1000 feet, across NJ, from Reading to Republic on Long Island.I have NO idea what an MD-80 was doing at or around 1000 ft about 15 miles south of Newark Liberty. But it was there and we almost traded paint.Jim
May 4, 200521 yr No, and I'm surprised, yet my traffic (UT) is set kinda low. Too much FPS hit with these fancy add-ons. :-lolI did have a Lear come extremely close one time when I was in the PMDG, but it was before the PMDG had the 800/900 update, so no TCAS. I'd say it was a few feet away, as I even heard the engine noise of it go by!!! Of course, ATC told me about him AFTER he passed. One thing I hope MS works on for the new version. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
May 5, 200521 yr Haven't had a mid-air with other flying aircraft.......Just the other day, though, I had a mid-air with an aircraft on the ground, though..... Was trying a bit of aerobatic stuff in an F14, ended up with a redout, and when I came to, I was inverted a few feet off the ground heading straight for a parked CRJ at 300+ kias (iirc)... No time to pull up.... Guess I need more practice with inverted loops or semi-loops..... :( Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
May 5, 200521 yr I came very close to smashing into a king air while on final at EGPH in the PMDG 737-700. I was descending peacfully, when I got a traffic warning. I looked around and I couldn't see this traffic anywhere. All of a sudden he shot across my flightpath about 5 feet in front of me. scared the #### outta me!Aaron
