May 26, 200521 yr Would I not be correct in the assumption that the XBOX platform is for games so that the majority of it's power is geared towards graphics? While that would provide great graphics for FS I would assume that a full version of MSFS would choke an XBOX with it's many, many other calculations. I would have to say that if the rumors are true that MSFS will find it's way to XBOX it will be a "lite" version, or one specifically written for that platform, not the same exact version. The chances that MSFS will be exclusively for XBOX are ZERO, at least in the near future. I think that I can safely say that almost every game except MSFS needs very little processing power for anything other than graphics and that is what an XBOX is built for, not something that needs so much more power for all of the other things that MSFS does. In a thread in the PMDG forum it talks about the fuel use data being off at times during the flight due to the complex equations needed for this data. The stated data is incorrect at times because it has to wait until there is enough free processing power to deal with the equations, would the XBOX be able to handle an add-on like the PMDG? I doubt it would, at least as well as a PC does now. I admit that I could be wrong here but from what little I do know I think that my theories are sound. Anyone have any input on this? May 26, 200521 yr It sounds like they are a long way into the developing stage, talk of beta-testers and all. I would be very suprised if it is released in 2007. Then again i am only going by what i have read.Dan
May 27, 200521 yr Exactly my thoughts! I'd imagine that as this year ends in an odd number and the summer is approaching, demand for add-ons is or has already reached its plateau as simmers await the new release and questions over compatibility. So I'll continye to keep my credit card in my wallet and only buy the things I really really want rather than the ones that may just be nice to have.Rob

May 27, 200521 yr No disrespect, but of all the places in the world, why Blackpool? So, MS can see the lights? RH
May 27, 200521 yr >No disrespect, but of all the places in the world, why>Blackpool? So, MS can see the lights? >>RHCould it be because the International Flightsimulation Convention is taking place there this July 9 and 10? BTW, according to the IFC site, MS is to make an "announcement" during the convention.

Read and watch all the MS videos Webcasts Weblogs. They always 100% afirm that the 360 is a Console, It might share similair hardware but its a Console.Designed to play Pick up and play games which lead the user into another world of fantasy.Ok FS is often Fanatsy, but its not pick up and play, and Im sure it wont see a console release. Also where is keyboard support? if its a PC. MS have stated that its only for the Messaging & front end part of the console, but its a no no for games support.MS do not want people thinking this is a PC.Jason
May 27, 200521 yr "I read the report in the magazine and I took it as being very much tounge in cheek"From reading the highlights, I would suspect the same. There isn't one point that couldn't be viewed as a guess. The helicopters and microlights line gave me a real chuckle. And the line about the beta contradicts the rest, since applications don't go into beta while they are still in development. It stands to reason that the sim will be released probably next year, probably in two versions (Xbox and PC), probably with stunning new features, blah blah blah. Maybe some other sim magazine will quote me as being their "inside" source. After all, Microsoft stock is included in the mix offered in my 401K plan :)I think when Microsoft does announce its intentions with MSFS, everyone will know at the same time. One magazine won't get the scoop of the decade, not given the respect Microsoft has for sites like Avsim, Flightsim, and other sites that make up our community.-John
