Thanks for the help in advance thx Daryl
February 4, 201511 yr Hi Daryl P3d has a refund policy I think it 14 or 30 days so you can try it on your system. Don't watch frame rate counter as even on low numbers you may experience smooth simulation on screen. FTX Global and Vector are great. Ultimate Traffic 2 works great Airbus is good. I use Opus FSI plus REX textures for weather and camera views. Enjoy. Dean UK P3DV5 and Xplane 11 SimmerPilotEdge I11, CAT11, A-Z (ZLA), A-Z (WUS) System details: Gigabyte P57v7 CF2 17.3" laptop. February 4, 201511 yr Should run well...resolution and graphics setting will impact your FPS. Cheers, Rob
February 4, 201511 yr No tips, I like them all ... from free to freakin' expensive Just be aware the more add-ons you add the more VAS will be used and the more stress you'll put on your CPU/GPU. If you add-on list get long, there are several products available to help you optimize your add-on based on what you want to do (SimStarter, and more). Cheers, Rob.
February 4, 201511 yr Author Rob someone mentioned to me PlanG (believe thats the name) over Flightsim Commander. Do you have any experience with that program. Also any traffic add ons you recommend as i know UTX need alot of updating if you want to usually get your traffic current with flight plans and etc. Thanks, Daryl
February 4, 201511 yr Plan-G is VFR only FScommander is IFR/VFR, it is older but far more comprehensive
February 4, 201511 yr I moved from Plan-G to EFASS to Aivlasoft EFB. I like the later much better. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.
February 4, 201511 yr Hi Daryl, I've got/use FS Commander (now 9.6 with recent update), EFB, PFPX ... I have not used Plan-G. Out of the 3 I use FS Commander 9.6 the most. FS Commander provides everything I need with the exception of fuel planning. PFPX is very in depth, but does seem to focus on commercial aircraft. EFB is good also, but I don't like how it forces you into "stages" of flight ... FS Commander keeps it more "open" and with FS Commander I can just fly and track (including AI) or can have it assume the controls and be the autopilot. I run FS Command, EFB remotely (networked). In many ways FS Commander is a lot like a GTN750 and/or other GPS units that can be used in an aircraft. The only downside to FS Commander is that in a network setup it requires WideFS (aka part of FSUIPC) ... not a big deal, but other solutions like EFB have their own network module so no need for WideFS/FSUIPC. If I'm doing a "standard" route using a PFPX supported commercial aircraft, then I'll use PFPX for planning ... and FS Commander for the rest. FS Commander also now supports loading of FSGRW weather data which is nice to have if you want to get a more accurate depiction of your weather (assuming of course one is using FSGRW weather engine). So in summary, they're all good, but I seem to favor FS Commander with PFPX for "my" needs. Cheers, Rob.
February 5, 201511 yr I am looking to buy p3d after a long break from FSX. It seems after some research that P3D is really ready to go out of the box with minor tweaking compared to FSX. I am looking for some advice on add ons that i either have or will purchase for p3d: Flightsim Commander - Is this still one of the better products to use or is there something better for P3D FTX Vector/ Global Active Sky Rex PMDG - When it releases Aerosoft Airbus Extended X Traffic - ? dont know which one as i have heard WOI and My Traffic. Are there any other great add ons for P3D? Also here are my computer Specs: CPU - i5-3570k 3.40GHz Memory - 8Gb GPU - AMD Radeon HD 7970 1TB SSD Will that system run prepar3d pretty good? Thanks for the help in advance thx Daryl Hi Daryl... I agree with Rob - I use FS Commander on a separate display on my GTX680 - I like keeping watch on my ai, it gives you collision alerts and is resolution/area cover adjustable. It will accept a new plan textfile, or you can create one, and I really don't like firing up P3D 2.4 without it. (Feels like leaving your house without your 'cellphone' !) February 5, 201511 yr Author Thanks everyone....One more thing crossed my mind and i never asked. How is the ATC? Is it standard FSX ATC? Which 3rd party apps are really good for ATC control?
February 5, 201511 yr Are there any other great add ons for P3D? Yes, you can try SimlauncherX, it is the Swiss army knife for FSX/P3D, including moving map, and it's free! http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=187387 http://forum.avsim.net/forum/722-simlauncherx/

Thanks for the help in advance thx Daryl You are off to a good start with FTX Vector/Global, ASN (I'm assuming you ment Active Sky Next.), and REX. All of those are dual licenced for FSX and Prepar3D. Others are saying Ultimate Traffic work ok with Prepar3D, but I'm not sure if it works without editing it. I haven't tried it with my copy yet. While you are waiting for PMDG, Majestic Software's Dash 8 Q400 work out of the box with Prepar3D with no problems. It is one of the few PMDG quality add-ons for Prepar3D right now. Thanks everyone....One more thing crossed my mind and i never asked. How is the ATC? Is it standard FSX ATC? Which 3rd party apps are really good for ATC control? I think the default ATC is the same as FSX. Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB
February 6, 201511 yr Yes, you are correct. Default ATC in P3D appears to be identical to that in FSX. Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
